35 reviewsA group of thirteen friends visited Bolbec for a weekend of socializing, bonding and a bit of of running. The check-in process was very smooth, with eleven of us given our clearly identifiable room keys immediately by the Hotel owner, who spoke superb English. We also eagerly pre-booked breakfast for the following morning. The rooms were comfortable, spacious and decorated to a very modern standard. The bathrooms were each furnished with top quality modern power showers, and plenty of clean towels were provided on arrival. We began our sightseeing tour of Bolbec at 09:00am and were finished by quarter past ! Not much seems to happen in sleepy Bolbec on a Saturday. The highlight involved visiting the local supermarket and buying emergency rations of croissants, bananas and water. If your interests involve looking at derelict, grey buildings, then Bolbec is a must visit place for you. We frequented several nice Bars and Cafes during the day, our favorite being the Celtic bar. Do not be put off by its "boarded up" appearance, just knock hard on the window, they will let you in. The proprietor was extremely generous, providing our group with unlimited complimentary bowls of crisps, and bottles of fresh, cocoa-cola and a huge selection of draught beers. Be aware of the crocodile on the wall, it has sharp teeth ! We ate in a fantastic Italian restaurant, which was located down a small alleyway in the main town. We recommend the Ham Calzone and the "Non Olive" pizzas. The soft drinks were rather overpriced here, but the food could not be faulted. We had a wonderful nights sleep. We even managed to sleep through the commotion of an electrical burning incident that emanated from a couples penthouse suite at the top of hotel. Thankfully, one of the nocturnal guests with a sharp nose, acted promptly to prevent this incident escalating any further. Breakfast was terrific value for money. Huge baskets of fresh, assorted croissants and bread were provided. This really set us up for the day, we were all stuffed and well worth the 6 euros per head. The bar area was terrific. It was fully accessible all day and evening, with a wide selection of drinks available. The receptionist was very helpful, and was always available round the clock to answer any of our queries. I would fully recommend this hotel to any groups of people visiting Bolbec It would also be suitable for couples who would like a romantic escape within an acceptable budget. We will definitely have no hesitation about returning.
