Bit difficult to find, ignore the private property sign!
Lovely building and fantastic hosts, real French charm.
Pool, eat with other guests, typical French, all together like a family dinner, which I love.
Furniture chosen wihout any sense of design, no tv, internet only works by router, it was super!!

Amazing and magical experience

The castle is beautiful and the owners are really welcoming and friendly. The room was nice and clean. 
The price of 140,- per night is definitely to high, it's that you pay for being in a castle, not for having good equipment or great breakfast.
One has the feeling that it all could be done without great effort: a little more choices for breakfast, the shutters being opened for a little more light in the breakfast room, sheets/pads for the sunbeds around the pool and so on. Maybe it's just a lack of motivation by the owners, but it's the little things that make the difference. 

Nice but overpriced 

Fallen on hard times, garden sadly neglected, cluttered room with tiny towels and awful pink polyester sheets; notices everywhere telling us what we could or couldn't do - eg no food allowed in bedroom, charges for teabags(!).  Monsieur spent a lot of time smoking outside, while his poor wife seemed overburdened with washing, laundry and cooking, serving etc. Incredibly long wait for mediocre food at dinner - children had to wait nearly an hour for their starter - cut up melon. Wine was undrinkable - one to avoid at all costs.

Down at heel, depressing, over-priced - no stars except the ones in the night sky

This was by far our worst experience ever. In fact, we booked thorough booking.com, based on the information they provided and the pictures in their website (similar to the two pics in here). The reality, however, was totally and shockingly different. So much so that we left within the day despite having booked the property for a week holiday. By the way, both the owner as well as booking.com refused to reimburse the week.

The property and the gardens are in pretty poor condition (nothing like the pictures in here). Furthermore, the inside of the property is dark, dusty, cluttered, and awfully and poorly decorated. I took a few pictures that I can hopefully share with you here.

When we shared our surprise and shock with the owner, his response was "this is the way chateaux are!" ... well, that is not true. Both before and after this terrible experience, we have stayed in amazing chateaux and domaines in France (both hotels and B&B). This one is just unacceptably poor, and the owner's attitude (as well booking.com's attitude) was sadly disappointing.

I could go on and write a book about our impressions, but the picture I would want you to keep is that of the owner of the property sitting down in a plastic chair at the entrance of the chateau, smoking a cigarette side by side to a "smoking not allowed" sign. Hopefully some of the pictures attached will tell the rest of the story!

The definition of mis-selling ... AVOID, AVOID, AVOID

We booked Chateau de Lestaubiere through booking.com as the photos look pretty and reviews were good (albeit limited amount of reviews onlookers). We arrived to find the property run down and unclean. The photos on booking.com were probably taken 10 years ago! The property owner was sitting on a plastic chair in front of the property entrance, smoking (ironically with a no-smoking sign next to him). Dusty furnitures and packs of toilet rolls and many other things were piling up everywhere. Bedrooms are damp and bed linens clearly not fresh... So we called booking.com immediately and sent the photos we took on site. The lady was sympathetic but got no where with the property owner. The condition was so bad that we had to flee the property. Guess what? The property owner took the full week's rental from us. We are horrified and are now complaining through Booking.com to get proper refund! Stay away as there are many other genuinely nice chateau in this areas, at similar prices!!!
