A typical french house with decades of history at a very short distance from the city center, Nice place to drop in for a few days and get that feeling that you are at your home. Ideal place to stay and explore the surrondings of Digne Les Bains.

Avoid this place if you don’t want to be tricked! They lure you in with low prices but place many devils in the details, like different sets of cleaning fees and extra costs for different check in time. 

I just had the most terrible experience with this place. I am currently travelling in Europe with my husband and our dog. Seeing their seemingly reasonable price (€118 for 3 nights, plus €60 cleaning fee to be paid on arrival). I made the booking through Booking.com on 31/12/3018 for 3 days in mid April. Since Booking.com doesn’t provide the information on pet charge, I immediately asked them about the charge upon booking, knowing I had to make a cancellation 30 days before my arrival (March 13). I was charged €118 on Jan 2, 2019. They didn’t reply my question about pet charge until March 29, well past the free cancellation period. When I got the first message from them: €100, I thought I read it wrong and asked them what it was on April 1. They replied ‘pets cleaning fees’ on April 3. 

Here one can notice two things: 1. Their first reply came almost three months after my question and it’s well after the free cancellation period. 2. They are capable of answering questions within days if need be. The only explanation for the delay of the first message was so that if I found the charge too high (which I do! Who’d heard of such outrageous pet cleaning fee! It’s €160 cleaning fee in total, even more than the cost of staying there for three days), I could not cancel my booking for free. I voiced my protest and asked for a free cancellation because it’s unfair that they deliberately withheld information pertinent to whether I kept the booking until after the free cancellation period. They apologised but refused to let me cancel for free. Again it shows if they made an honest mistake the first time around they would have let me off. Their refusal is a testament itself that their delay the first time was deliberate. They planned to trick me of the cancellation fee all along! When I tried reasoning with them, they resorted to not answering my messages again, not even after intervention from Booking.com. Finally I had no choice but to cancel their booking (and losing the €118 to them) because who want to stay in such a hostile place. Who knows what other ‘surprises’ would be in store if we stayed there? (All facts. See the attached photos for your reference)
