251 reviewsWe live in France and we decided to tour the Cathar area which has been one of our dreams for a long time. Auberge Cote Jardin was chosen because we wanted to be near the abbey Fontfroide and we wanted to end our Cathar area visit on a high. We spent two nights and had dinner each night at the Auberge. The meals were excellent. The chef has trained the hard way: hotel-restaurant training school followed by extensive additional training and working in well known restaurants. By the time he set out on his own he was ready to make his mark. He cooks primarily for two clientele: locals, many of whom are in the wine trade, and tourists like us who go out of our way to find quality meals in a pleasant inn. We ate the menu at E28.80 and we were not disappointed. The first night we tried his signature dish: cassoulet. In that part of the France cassoulet is a common as a baguette. His was different: it was light, full of traditional flavours without any of the bloat aftermath which is all too common. Unfortunately I lost my notes on the second night but I can guarantee you it was good otherwise I would have raised the roof. They have a good selection of Corbieres wines and we enjoyed their chateau Ollie Romans. Our room was large and comfortable. Parking is secure and there is easy access to the hotel. Our suggestion: if you are going to wagon wheel visit in the Corbieres area you are unlikely to find a nicer and more reasonable place to stay than the Auberge Cote Jardin. The staff is friendly, attentive, and the chef is superb. He features fresh produce from the area and includes quality bio products. Good value. Whitebeard83
