We used to stay at this old inn on our travels through France but the then owner sold it along with the other Hotel in Combreux and it sadly closed down. Around a year ago new owners have taken it on as a training hotel. It is eccentric but very attractive. Rooms are not large or air conditioned but are adequate and some have nice views over the Church or countryside. The restaurant is rustic in style and the food is of high quality though not a huge choice. I stayed on a Thursday when an open fire in the restaurant was used to cook your choice of chops/steaks etc. The starter was salmon with a poached egg and salad. The main course came with a choice of sauces, sauted potatoes and ratatouille. Cheese and profiteroles in a luxurious chocolate sauce followed. An excellent meal for 22 Euros. The countryside around the inn is pretty with a chateau, lake and canal all within walking distance.
