La Savoyarde

We stayed at the La Savoyarde for 5 nights in mid-July and it ticked all of the boxes we wanted. We were looking for a safe, secure, well located hotel with the option of breakfast (although we didn’t eat here in the end it looked like a very comprehensive buffet with a charge of around 9 euro’s per person per day and other items available at extra cost). All rooms have stunning views of the town and valley, and it is literally one building away from the Brevante gondola station. It is up a steep hill though from the road the Tourist Info office is located on (a ten minute walk upwards) – so it may not suit those with mobility problems. Downhill is fine though! The owner is constantly tending to the immaculate gardens and we often sat on our decking area outside the room enjoying those amazing views. The room was clean and comfortable. It had a decent size bathroom with bath and fixed shower overhead, and towels were fresh and fluffy. We also had toiletries provided. The bed was firm, not soft – ideal for me but not for everyone! Wardrobe space was extensive and there was a room safe (3 euro’s per day) and kettle – plus the windows had security shutters on them. For us, it was a good, clean, solid 3 star hotel, but the best bit was the lovely staff. Our cleaner was wonderful – asking us if our sheets were ok or did we want a duvet, keeping the room clean and tidy – wonderful! She was a credit to the hotel – we had a chat every day with her, and she was very nice and helpful. Also, the lady who was the receptionist and was always busy in the main room areas of the hotel was wonderful – offering to take our photos in the hotel public rooms (the public rooms are lovely, and have a lot of history attached to them) and always stopping for a chat with a big smile on her face. The staff here are amazing and we are so glad we met them. On our last day, there was a knock on the door and the lady presented us with a lovely bottle of red wine and two glasses – it was our anniversary week and this was a lovely touch, so thoughtful and unexpected. We would definitely recommend the Hotel La Savoyarde for a number of reasons – if you want a hotel for evening meals and with more facilities such as a pool and in the centre of town then perhaps it isn’t for you but for a cosy, authentic French historical place to stay and relax it is brilliant with amazing views, gardens, and of course the two lovely staff!
