An Unforgettable atmosphere with very welcoming hosts. They took time for us and had good suggestions too.. Just a few kilometers away from lyon... one of the most beautiful cities in france..a small tipp from our part will be to buy the homemade red wine from their vineyards.

We spent five wonderful days at the chateau early in September.  We arrived later than planned and our host welcomed us warmly, providing a light supper with delicious wine.
Olivier and Alexander recommended excellent restaurants to us as well as suggestions on how to spend our days tasting local wines.  
Accommodation was extremely comfortable and spacious.  We particularly enjoyed relaxing in the garden at the end of a long day.  We highly recommend the Chateau Longsard experience.

France is full of little chateaus owned privately and more or less transformed to hotels, B&Bs, hostels, conference hotels etc, etc. Ch de Longsard is one of those. Genuine and nice experience with a lovely host couple - apparently fighting to keep the property in shape. Since there is no staff, the hosts take care of you on a more personal level. The chateau itself is a bit of "old glamour", where constant attendance of course is needed. The grounds are nice, though not exceptional, but big enough for a stroll with the feeling of back in the days (the 18-19th century that is). The room was large and comfortable with the proper feeling of being in a chateau. Modern bathroom fully equipped and nice beds. The proprietor provides for breakfast, which is more than adequate. Some nice chats with the same (who speaks both english and french fluently) could well round up your evening over a glass of the estate's own wine. Dinner is to be had with a short trip by car (no, not by foot) and there are some good places to find not to far away. The owner - and we - recommend l'Embarcadere for instance, some 20 minutes away by car. The accomodation is not cheap, but fair, since it is understood that this establishment needs some income to survive as a B&B. It also feels fair and right to support this type of business which for most of us supplies many more values than a hotel chain. It is - mainly on this behalf - highly recommended!

A box of six bottles of the estates own wine (Ch de Longsard) can be bought on site for merely 30 EUR. A fair in-between Beaujolais table wine - quite drinkable.

We stayed here 3 nites and it was jaw dropping. Straivht out out of Revolution era France. Maintains its charm by not being spotlessly perfect. That said, the hosts were wonderful. After a morning cycling we'd return to Beaujolais from the onsite vineyard, petanque then silver service dinner. Incredible. Breakfast was classic France of fresh croissants cheeses ham coffee tea jams etc. A grt start to the day. I'd only imagined a place like this, uts a gem and the Count & Alex wonderful hosts. Shame about wifi though....

What a wonderful place. Our hosts Alex and Olivier treated us all like house guests rather than patrons. 
Also two in our group were began and Alex went out of her way to make us amazing food particularly the lasagne. 
A place rich in history and full of warmth.
