Manoir Le Bigourda

Great B&B run by the friendly and helpful Wheelers, Robert & Carol Ann. Wonderful house - combining the local 'maison en pierre' style with Italian accents - in a nice location. We stayed in the small apartment with direct pool access and enjoyed it very much. The rooms in the main house have a distinct English country manor feel to them, surprising in southwest France, but very enjoyable. A great location to explore the Quercy Blanc.

Manoir Le Bogourda is a stunning property. Our guest room was large and beautifully furnished with elegant antiques. In fact, the whole property is an antique treasure trove. We had an equally spacious and furnished private bathroom.
 
The manoir is situated on a hill and has expansive views of the valley. The whole region seems to be surrounded by hilltop villages and valleys.
 
Carol Anne & Robert are wonderful hosts and immediately made us feel at home as did Mr Chippy, Monty & Lucy. 
 
Our wholesome breakfasts were served on the Manoir’s wonderful terrace and usually required a good hour or more because you didn’t want to leave. 
 
We want to go back.


Just the best for our family of 12-80 year olds. Addicting too - 5 years and counting.  

Lovely setting, with pleasant village life from 5-30 km away (be adventurous - its worth it) and some fun lakes with inexpensive boating and activities for kids. 

Hosts delightful, integrated in the local community of French and expat residents, and informed about various vide greniers and antique-ing.

This was our second visit to Le Bigourda and we enjoyed it every bit as much as the first.  Robert and Carol Anne greeted us like old friends (no mean feat when they have so many visitors and it is three years since our last stay) and made us feel as if we were invited guests rather than paying ones.  We had a very happy and delicious dinner (accompanied by generous quantities of good wine) with another couple who were staying and our hosts - again it felt like a private party.  The house is filled with beautiful antique furniture and is very comfortable.  Altogether, the perfect resting place for anybody visiting this part of France who wants a very warm welcome in a real home.

We came to stay at the Manoir Le Bigourda recently after a recommendation from my parents. We knew it would be good but had no idea just how beautiful, peaceful and idyllic it would be until we experienced it for ourselves. Nothing can be faulted with this wonderful place; the hosts Robert and Carol Ann are exceptionally friendly, welcoming, and accommodating, the rooms are all beautifully furnished with great care and detail and the surroundings are just so beautiful. The terrace for breakfast is second to none and the pool is a perfect place to relax in peace with a good book while taking in the scent of the jasmine and rosemary plants. We stayed for three nights but on reflection we wish we could have had longer now as the quiet location and peaceful surroundings suited us just perfectly. We certainly plan to return again to this wonderful place!

We have just returned to the Auvergne after a 5 night stay in Manoir Le Bigourda.  We were completely charmed by the warmth of the hospitality offered by Carol Ann and Robert. The house itself is beautifully furnished and the bedrooms warm, exceptionally well appointed and welcoming. We love to walk and run, and there were no shortage of routes  suggested by Robert allowing us to to enjoy the wonderful countryside. This couple excel in making their guests feel completely at home.

A beautiful manor house that was renovated by the owners with much love and dedication. The interior design is a treasure room of antique and brocant. And everywhere books about art, history and the region. We were incredibly spoiled by the hosts. The breakfast was very tasty. One evening we also had supper. I can still taste the pie. This B & B is also a very good starting point to explore the many historic villages in the area. There are so many that some are not even mentioned in the travel guides. My family and I experienced a fantastic week here.
