Kind people, clean room good access to the famous spots.

The Normandie hits all the right notes. It overlooks Bordeaux's streetcar hub and the Girond Estuary, is adjacent to the jardin public and the head of Rue Sainte Catherine, and is equidistant to the funky dining neighborhoods of The Chartrons and Saint-Pierre. The Bar a Vins, sponsored by the Bordeaux wind industry, is next door. Can't be beat.

The hotel staff is very friendly and the property is very clean and well kempt. The breakfast is good and with enough variety to choose. The location is close to the Opera House and Quinconces Park, there is good tram connections or you can walk to most attractions

The staff were extremely helpful and courteous, and the hotel was conveniently located in the central part of town. The restaurant recommendations from the staff were spot on.

Staff is excellent. The single comfort rooms were perfect for friends travelling together but wanting separate rooms. The location was perfect. It’s right by the Grand Theatre and also across from the tram stops. Highly recommend Hotel Normandie!

The Hotel de Normandie is in the best possible spot in Bordeaux. It is a block away from the best shopping streets and a couple of blocks away from five excellent restaurants. We had a nice room with a balcony where we could enjoy the balmy nights and sunny mornings on the sixth floor. There was a separate toilet which we appreciated but the shower was over the bath which can be slippery and I needed to be careful. Breakfast was good with a range of pastries and cheese. Eggs were cooked to order. The view from the balcony was of the trees around the tram hub and on to the river Garonne, with the spectacular fountain commemorating the Girondins to the left. You can catch a tram just across the street from the hotel to anywhere in the city , tickets are €1.50 for an hour and it’s a lovely way to get around when you tire of walking. Bordeaux has beautiful stone buildings, churches and museums. We stayed 9 nights and there was plenty to enjoy. We recommend Brasserie 1925 opposite the Girondin fountain and Bistro Big off the main shopping street as excellent both for food and charm.

Location is amazing. Rooms are nice, ac works great. Nice soaking tub. Staff are all friendly and helpful!

I love this place

I would have given the hotel five stars if I had a better check in. The guy checking me in acted like I was making up a free beverage as part of the VIP deal and when I asked him if I had to pay for drinks in the minibar, he said YES. So I bought my water for three days and at the check out found out that the minibar was free for me :(. The gentleman who helped me the most and was so kind and patient was Lyonnel! He gave me a few bottles of water after I checked out because he felt bad that I did not use the minibar. His recommendations for restaurants and places to see were top notch!

The hotel is very nice & good location. The staff were very pleasant & helpful.Hotel is located across from the main tram terminal. Very busy & noisy all day & night.We were there in March & AC not available to be turned on jn the room.  We had to have the windows open for some air flow.The noise from the trams, people outside all night long and the nightclub across the street was a definite drawback. It didn’t begin to quiet down until 4 am.

Very nice hotel but consider the surroundings

Great location right by the tourist office. Our superior room was clean and spacious and we had a bathtub which was nice after all the walking we did. Only slight negative was the internet. Connecting was a little like Russian roulette, sometimes you could, sometimes you couldn’t and we needed it to connect to the office. It seemed the issue was down to the number of users already connected. The earlier you tried, the more likely it was you could. I guess we shouldn’t have been working in our vacation, but who doesn’t have to anymore. We didn’t have breakfast here, preferring to grab a coffee and croissant on the go. Despite this issue we would stay here again.

The front desk clerk Luic, when we arrived was so helpful and genuinely happy to see us. I forgot my adapter for my cpap machine and Luic had some to pick from. Everyone we met was so helpful friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was delicious and beautifully presented. It made for a great weekend getaway!

Wonderful weekend getaway

Great location in the heart of the city centre.  About 2 minute walk to the pedestrian area.  Parking underground a short walk away, not cheap but convenient - about 35 euros for 24 hours.  Room was very clean, high ceilings, comfortable bed and large bathroom.  We had a lovely balcony although the view overlooked the tram station.  Would definitely stay again.

Great location

This is a lovely hotel well located in the old section of Bordeaux near the Place de la Bourse and the Garonne River, and the square of the Opera House with many shops and restaurants. A 10-15 minute walk from St. Andre's Cathedral. Very nice rooms and an excellent helpful staff. A hotel we would return to.

Lovely French style hotel in the old Bordeaux

Perfectly situated near  river , trams and opera house. The hotel has nice renovated rooms . The only negative was that there was a step up to bathroom and another to toilet area which we found a bit treacherous at night. Otherwise the room was sparkling clean and quiet even though it was on a busy street . The bed was a bit hard for someone used to foam mattresses but that is common in many French hotels . Overall excellent and we would most definitely return . What a magnificent city , Bordeaux is right out of a fairy  tale .
