Villas Prestige L’Orée de Milady

We loved our stay at the L'oree de la Milady villas. We had villa number 6, which was huge; with 4 good sized bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and a lovely, big kitchen/living area. It was perfect for our family of 4 (our kids are 4yrs and 18months old) and the grandparents. We had the 3 bedrooms upstairs, all with big cupboards and good shutters, and the grandparents had the bedroom area downstairs. This was well separated from the living area and had its own bathroom. The villa is beautiful, high spec and really well equipped. The showers and beds are good (although the pillows are rather thin!). And there's a dishwasher, washing machine and safe. The company (Odalys) also provided a travel cot, high chair and baby bath. There are two parking spaces per villa which are within the small complex and very secure. Our apartment didn't have air-con and there was a bit of noise from the road but generally it was fine to open the doors and windows to cool it down. It's worth mentioning that you are expected to clean (to a reasonable level) the villa on departure, unless you are willing to pay the huge €150 cleaning fee! (This wasn't mentioned by booking.com who we booked through!) The villas complex is absolutely lovely; well-designed and private, but friendly. The pool is heated nicely and absolutely wonderful. We liked the area and the stunning local beaches (Milady and Ibiarritz) are just a stone's throw away. These are popular with surfers and the sea can be quite rough, but both have very broad sandy areas which are lots of fun for smaller kids as there are rock pools and splashing areas. On calmer days, swimming in the shallows is also ok. Ibiarritz beach has a couple of restaurants, and there's also a restaurant and cafe at the cite de l'ocean attraction just round the corner. Other than that, you could walk into Biarritz, probably on around 30 mins although, with kids, we were glad we had a car. This made it easy to get to a number of decent restaurants, supermarket (intermarche) and various boulangeries and other shops within 5 mins. It's also about a 10 min drive into Bidart which has lots of restaurants and a fab creperie. All in all, we had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend the villas.
