Le Lys de Castelnaud

Where to start??? The hosts of this wonderful B&B, Ysae and Jean Marc, were SO friendly, enthusiastic, and helpful. They were a joy to meet. They gave us suggestions and directions for restaurants and things to do, markets, gardens, castles -- we enjoyed every one of their suggestions. The breakfast was really exceptional - everything was fresh, plentiful, and regional. Our family group of four took two rooms, and we were still talking about how much fun we had with Ysae and Jean Marc many days later in our trip. The rooms in this B&B are very clean, very comfortable, and quiet. The view of the river valley stretching out before you is wonderful in the mornings as the mist lifts. The decor is unique and fun, with dragons, armor, and more, all setting a medieval scene throughout the common areas and the rooms. And the location is just about perfect -- there are so many fabulous sights nearby. The Dordogne is a great region to visit, so picturesque and beautiful to see. We left busy, noisy, almost frantic Bordeaux a day early, and were SO glad we could stay that extra night at Le Lys de Castelnaud. What a relief to be in this beautiful, restful, but interesting valley with such great hosts and so much to do.
