Le Clos des Ruisseaux

Le Clos des Ruisseaux is not easy to find, hidden as it is in the Parc Naturel Régional du Pilat (Google will direct you close to it, but positions it the wrong side of the road). It is worth finding, though. We had a lovely large room in the period house that is warm and filled with local charm. Our hosts made us feel very welcome indeed, in fact, having understood our interests, they provided us with an itinerary for our first full day there! Breakfast is homely with local touches (a rather special chees on some days). The countryside here is very attractive, hilly with small villages dotted about. At the higher levels, you can see across the Rhone valley to the Alps. Vienne with its roman architecture and Lyon are both within easy reach. Note: restaurants in the local villages are good, but there is great uncertainty about which days they are open. Mireille and her husband Jean-Yves are only too glad to phone and book for you (essential). Mireille likes to chat a lot at breakfast - in French, which really helped us improve our grasp of the language! From her we learned a lot about this interesting area.
