Hôtel Le Novel

Lovely people, all staff very pleasant and friendly. We had a problem with our car and they couldn't have been more helpful. Hotel is in excellent location, very close to the train station and just a short walk from the beach/promenade. There's a lift, which was great, as our room was on 2nd floor. The whole place is very clean and our room was a good size with separate toilet, and bathroom with shower. Hairdryer provided on request. Room was fine but not luxurious but as ever you get what you pay for - a comfortable and clean bed which is good value. Some hotels are really expensive in this area so the price and facilities in Le Novel suited us very well. If you have a car, it costs to park in the immediate vicinity so we took the hotel's advice and left the car about a 5-minute walk away. We just left it on the street for 2 days and it was fine. Arcachon is a lovely place, really relaxing, and it also has some lovely shops and a great market hall. The beaches are gorgeous too, with lovely seafood restaurants. We travelled to Arcachon from Biarritz and on the way there we made a slight detour to visit the Dune du Pilat. This was a great trip and it's worth seeing, but if you want to go from Arcachon you can catch a bus from outside the station for just 2 euros. Everything is very compact, so it's easy to wander through the town, visit the shops, spend a few hours on the beach and call for coffee on the way there and a glass of wine on the way back - a really fabulous lifestyle - we really enjoyed our visit.
