We spent five nights at La Dolce Vita at the end of August. We were the only guests so had this slice of paradise to ourselves. Not only did our hosts, Luigi and Margaret, make us feel very welcome but it was their whole team that made it such a memorable experience. Michelle, the chef, deserves a special mention. The food was spectacular, from Italian, to Indian, to Fijian – every night was a feast. Our villa was super comfortable with splendid sea views; the garden was beautifully tended; and we loved swimming in the lagoon.  We can not recommend La Dolce Vita highly enough.

A slice of paradise

 We came from New Zealand and stayed for 4 nights.
This is a small and beautiful resort where you will be very well cared for by owners Margaret and Luigi along with the entire friendly staff at La Dolce Vita.

The food created by Michelle was a treat, delicious meals with a different theme every night, served with fresh produce.
Our villa looking out over the reef was comfortable and beautifully clean. It provided us with everything we needed.

We loved our time at La Dolce Vita and hope to return sometime soon.

I was urged by a friend to go to this retreat - called the Wellness Weekend at the La Dolce Vita Villas in Naqere, past Savusavu in Vanua Levu. I missed out on the first one due to work. I also really have been wanting to get back into yoga, having fallen off the wagon during the pandemic. The organizer, Raewyn, was really good at keeping in touch and guiding me through logistics. Later I learned that she is a massage therapist - and a very skilled one too. I received one massage from her and one from another practitioner - both were very good although very different. Liti, the yoga teacher, has an approach that is very gentle and nurturing - I benefited a lot from the yoga sessions and am now getting myself back into yoga, as intended. I also very much enjoyed the food prepared by Chef Michelle, who worked hard to give me excellent vegan and gluten-free fare on this vegetarian retreat (although meat and fish were served in the final lunch). The venue is stunning, with two cute and friendly pups (Jack and Jill) and a mischievous cat (Pash) who roam the property. The lagoon and salt water pool are wonderful refuges. I loved my villa, which was spacious and comfortable with a large bathroom. The only thing I would change would be to have the villas be screened, so that mosquitos would not disturb me as much as they did. We missed out on the waterfall trek due to weather, and did not do a tour or tasting of Koko Mana chocolate, due to weather and timing, but I appreciated being able to buy some of the locally made treats, which are very tasty. A lovely retreat in a beautiful location with wonderful people that I enjoyed bonding with. Thank you Raewyn, Liti and team!  

Amazing food and location 

We stayed here 4/18 -4/25/2019. Prior to our booking, we noticed a lack of recent reviews as it turns out this resort was closed in order to fix damage caused by a tropical cyclone a couple years back. Don't let this bother you! They don't advertise so they are not very busy which is in your favor!

It is a small resort, less than 10 bures. There is a lagoon, kayaks are available plus short hiking trails. The small golf course is under construction, not ready. It is very private, during our entire visit we were the only guests! This allowed the staff to be very attentive but at the same time, the Fiji life is easy, there is no pressure to go on excursions, if you do just ask and they are available. Snorkeling, diving, hiking, church, massage, fishing, etc they will make arrangements and take you there, no need to rent a car. The food (Chef Michelle) and room service is Amazing, laundry was free. We booked with Travelocity/Expedia all the meals were included.

Margaret and Luigi operate the resort, they are very kind and will answer any questions you have before you book or during your trip they take good care of you.
The only negative is the wifi was down and we did not have AC in our bure, but we didn't care, didn't really need it with the ocean breeze.

Wonderful Experience

La Dolce Vita is exactly that - the sweet life.
The property is superbly developed and the hosts Luigi and Margaret are the sort of people you wish you had already known for years - they are "keepers".
The villas are spacious and well fitted out. The resort is very eco friendly and runs on solar power from their own power station on an adjacent block.
The pool is fun but then there is the lagoon - and what an array of toys. Trampolines, jet skis, you name it all within the safety of a stunning lagoon - and yes there are fish in there too.
There are so many places to dine, places to relax, that you can be as private as you wish - or join the happy throng at the bar and dining room.
The food is superb. Some of the best I have enjoyed in the whole of Fiji over the past 18 years of business and personal travel.
Prices are very good, kids are welcome and catered for and of course its just a short drive from Savusavu airport.
And did I mention the 6 hole golf course across the road (you go round 3 times if the "refreshment" stops at each hole don't get you first.

Dont miss this one

Our stay with Margaret and Luigi was perfect! We got our slice of the rainforest, beach, and Reef, and even had two days of dolphin encounters. My partner and I are marine biologists and have traveled the pacific and Caribbean studying corals and we were absolutely blown away by the corals in Natawa Bay. We also couldn't believe the spinner dolphin population the LDV (La Dolce Vita) will bring you to see. They know the times when they feed and very often have the entire pod of about 100 playing with the boat. LDV does not feed the dolphins out of respect for nature, which we very much appreciated and it made the whole experience that much more special! As for the rainforest, you can hike to the highest peak in the area (on the property) and get views or the salt lake, natawa bay, and the big blue. Truly breathtaking! 

The resort itself is a labor of love and it shows. Luigi and Margaret have a true vision for LDV and are always coming up with new ideas. There attention to detail leaves you in great hands on your holiday. Out front is even a lagoon where you can bounce on the trampoline or play on the hamster wheel... I wasn't so graceful haha. The rooms are unique as well. They're open and make you feel like you're living where the rainforest meets the sea!

A perfect holiday!

Of all our stays during our Fiji vacation, this was the best! Margaret and Luigi have beautifully repaired the small and quaint resort after the cyclone Winston (2016). We had the honor of the resort being reopened with us. We stayed in the perfect two bedroom villa Firenze with mesmerising seaviews. 
What we loved: the warm welcome at the Savusavu airport followed by a tour of Savusavu; all the delicious meals - everytime a different highlight; stimulating conversation with our hosts during the aperitifs and meals; openness and friendliness of ALL staff; the enormous seawater pool with the aqua-toys; walking on the reef and strolling to the island at low tide; hiking up the property for great views; the dolphin, wale, and snorkelling tour in the bay; the traditional kava tasting with excellent musicians ..... basically everything!!

A week in paradise

Relaxation hits from the minute you arrive. This wonderful paradise provides the opportunity to enjoy Fiji in your own style. 

Owners Lui and Margaret have adapted modern conveniences into Fiji and made this such a wonderful holiday by individually customising our experience arranging anything that we wanted to do or see.

Lots of activities for the family, the two of us or just on my own. Snorkelling, canoeing, golfing, swimming at the pool, bush walks, fishing, dolphins, the games room (pool, chess, darts, soccer table, air hockey) trips into town for some shopping, and the historical red prawn walk. A highlight was the visit to the school and the community village and a visit from a local dance group with traditional dancing.  The kids were able to take traditional dance lessons from one of the local Fiji girls (thanks Artella) and every evening they rehearsed which culminated in a dance show for the fijian dance group that visited.
I had an amazing massage the 3rd day there, and it was so good i got another one. The kids were also very happy that they could get their hair braided.

Incredible fresh and high quality food is served by chef Michelle and waitress Trina in a plethora of eating areas such as the serene area at "Inspiration point", the teppanyaki bar and the new recreation hall. There was not one bit of food that was not simply amazing in taste. Desserts to die for! I have never experienced this level of cooking anywhere in my lifetime. It is also unique in a 3rd world area to have fresh and safe drinking water on tap. Very impressed that Lui has tapped into the natural underground springs to supply the resort and local community with fresh natural spring water.

The accomodation is excellent and the private villas are set overlooking the beauty of the ocean. The sunrise in the morning was magnificent and well worth rising earlier each day to see. Getting up early was no issue as there is so many places you can sneak off to for a quite relaxing snooze at any time during the day.

All the staff are very friendly and happy and provide everything you need. 

There is internet available for those that still need to connect, but to be honest it was great just enjoying La Dolce Vita's experience and forgetting about work and everything else. 

Overall it was a truly amazing place where we all had a truly relaxing and happy time and i have returned home refreshed and revitalised.
I would 100% recommend La Dole Vita Holiday Villas for a unique relaxing experience.
