Good little hotel but with flaws.
My room ( 203 ) had a shower whose door had a sealing issue, thus, every time a shower was taken, water flooded the floor.
The air conditioner would constantly shut off after only working a short while.
The room / bathroom were clean and a good size.
There’s no safe deposit box and no lift ( elevator ).
The hotel is on a high hill, and the streets are cobblestone, so persons with unsteady footing, I would not recommend coming to this location.
It is a pleasant, 10 minute walk, down
( and back up ) the hill to the town.
The WiFi always worked, though the
signal was weak at times.
I stayed 6 nights which was a mistake.
Ohrid is lovely, but I think 3 nights would 
be the most I would recommend.
The bus from Skopje takes 3 hours, and
the taxi to the hotel is 10 minutes.
I found the service at the hotel perfunctory at best.

Decent hotel; nothing spectacular.

Stayed here for four nights. Stunning view of the lake and mountains from my bedroom(203)! Staff lovely and very helpful. Excellent value for money. Beautiful little garden to have breakfast in, weather permitting. For those with mobility issues and will not have the use of a car, the villa is at the top of a steep hill.

Wonderful!

We arrived late and needed to leave at 7am for a hike. This was too early for breakfast so the staff laid out the full breakfast at 23.00 at night so we could make our own to eat in the car. She then got up at 7am to boil eggs for us and make coffee. Thank you so much!

Excellent friendly service

Located in the old town of Ohrid in Northern Macedonia, Villa Kale is a real gem. We enjoyed spacious, impeccably clean room with fantastic view of the lake, cool breeze at night, knowledgeable and helpful property manager Stefan who made our stay an absolute delight, and super friendly staff, especially Jovanka who served fantastic breakfast at the terrace filled with pots of beautiful flowers. Welcoming Macedonia people who shared their culture and traditions made our stay truly memorable. We are looking forward to come back to Villa Kale soon. Thank you for being such marvelous hosts.

Gem in Old Town

If you want to be in Ohrid, and to avoid all the noise from downtown, i recommend villa Kale. 10 minutes walk from the downtown, great view, and very quiet area.
I have only positive impressions for the staff, and all the services

Villa with great view and quiet neighborhood

We checked in on Sept 18 2019 for two nights. The room was nice and even had a balcony. When I got up the next morning I was covered in bites from bedbugs.Management was apologetic and changed our room but made no attempt to offer  a discount or not charge for that first night. So if you are staying there make sure you do a thourough search for bedbugs before retiring for the night

Bities

This accommodation is clean and very comfortable,with well equipped large rooms, located in the quiet and atmospheric old town so you can enjoy a walk down the hill to the modern town and lake via the cobblestone lanes with very restricted  traffic.My room did not have a balcony but a lovely view of the lake from one of the large windows. The owners really do everything to help you to enjoy your stay and in my case identify suitable travel agencies to organise some day trips.There is beautiful scenery all around the lake and you can base yourself in Ohrid for several days. The breakfast was  a great start to the day and the lady preparing it could not do enough for you. The management and staff certainly provided highly individualised service with pride.

Great hospitality

My husband and I stayed for 3 nights at Villa Kale in August on our  30th anniversary trip, after  a Greek island cruise.  We wanted to extend our holiday to visit (North) Macedonia, as this is where my grandparents  had immigrated from. Lake Ohrid looked gorgeous in the photos, so I wanted to find a place to stay that offered a beautiful view of the lake. The photos of the views from Villa Kale that Stephan sent me looked  fantastic, so I booked the Deluxe double bed room.   Stephan was very friendly and helpful and quick to respond to emails.

The hotel was located near the top of the hill, close to the stone gates,  in the old part of Lake Ohrid.  Our room had a balcony and windows that looked over the old town and out towards the lake. The room was very large and had 2 beds (one queen, one double, I believe), plus a seating area, and a mini fridge. The room was not new, nor high end, but was clean and spacious and offered the great views I was looking for. I also appreciated the table and chairs on our  outdoor balcony.  For 55 Euros a night, we had a continental breakfast buffet included. The breakfast area had an indoor room, plus 2 tables  on an nice outdoor patio/garden area. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Villa Kale and exploring the charming cobblestone streets of Lake Ohrid from the villa and walking down to the lake to go on a wonderful boat ride. I would like to bring my family back, and if I do, we would definitely book our stay with Villa Kale again because of its beautiful views and  friendly and helpful service

A Friendly Villa with a BEAUTIFUL VIEW

Can’t give enough praise. A great experience all round. Extremely friendly check in, and a clear family-run approach. The room was extremely clean and tidy.

Great location - 10 minutes walk to the beach and 5 minutes to restaurants and cafes.

One of the family gave us top tips for what to see and do in the area, whilst another booked us a taxi to the bus station with no problem at all. Always someone on hand to answer any queries.

Would return without question.

Flawless stay

Great hospitality, sincere and personal attention - wonderful service! This is a nicely appointed small B&B, our room was light and bright. We were on the first floor, no lake view but we booked it anyway and were not disappointed. Comfortable beds, well-equipped bathroom, very good WiFi.
The breakfasts were tasty and plentiful.
