Have been in years there and i see that the quality of everything is decreasing.The breakfast and dinner very poor menu this year for a 4 star hotel.Now the new absurd rule you cannot eat on the tarrace but only inside just like cows. The staff had order to close and block all the doors to keep people away from getting to eat outside. Generally the staff is nice and educated but if the absurd rules and the quality of service and food will continue decreasing do not see any future for that hotel. Anyway please let people to eat outside where they can enjoy the view also as is holiday not a condamn! I remembered sileks was the top but now.....:(

Well Macedonia has our hearts and without really knowing what to expect has exceeded and delivered a wonderful holiday. 
We stayed in Hotel Sileks which is in a town next to Orhid in Sv Stefan. The hotel was clean, and the rooms spacious, the bed comfortable and the shower powerful.
We stayed Bed and Breakfast which was lovely. Don't expect a full English, this is Macedonia, but there was an acceptable amount of meat, eggs, sweet treats and fruit on offer. 
The staff were attentive but it's much more chilled here so don't be afraid to ask for things, everyone is more than happy to help.
The hotel is right on the lake which is beautiful. We went to a variety of lake side bars for lunch which were lovely. Some of the usual burgers and pizzas available but also a selection of traditional Macedonian foods. We also had lunch in the hotel on one occasion and it was delicious.
The hotel is a short taxi ride to Ohrid centre that costs 300MKD or €5. This is so cheap. We ate in Ohrid every night and had some fabulous dishes, again some standard holiday meals but mostly Macedonian food which we loved. 
I would highly recommend North Macedonia to anyone looking to seriously unwind and relax. The Hotel Sileks also a little piece of Macedonian magic and worth a visit. A beautiful place with a wonderful history, stunning architecture and a real passion for their heritage.


Hotel Sileks is highly recommended. Ohrid really IS the PEARL OF THE BALKANS. A must visit !

People leaving bad reviews need be realistic about expecting more. I thought the hotel was really nice, great views of the lake which is easy to access and swim. The food is what it is. Small hotel has to limit choices, I thought what was offered was simple but of good quality. I looked forward to my dinner every night. 

Ohrid is only 7 mins away by taxi (5EUR). A boat trip to St Naum is a must and a walk around the national park. Getting to the top of the mountain is rewarding. I'm (48, reasonably fit, whole walk 3 hours). Hired a scooter to go up, was real fun. Fortune favours the brave!

Lake Ohrid is mesmerising. A beautiful destination, relaxed, with friendly and welcoming locals. Highly recommended!

Great Hotel

Disgusting food! If the guests didn't eat chicken pieces for dinner, the next day they ended up in the soup. The food was mostly cold. They couldn't even make fried eggs. Very little choice of dishes. Sun beds without mattresses by the pool. No showers at the pool. Drinks at the bar made according to a very sparing recipe.

Never more!

Staff behaves like in a horor movie. No smiles, no kindness at all. Food OK. Swimming pool OK. Rooms very old and not so clean. Reception staff is pretty unorganised, chaotic and not kind at all. In general, 2 of 5.

Overall the hotel has very poor management. The personnel behaves as if there’s no one that supervises their work and gets into arguments with the guests. 
There is a group of students who work as seasonal waiters whose behavior is horrendous. Sleepy, slow, unprofessional and could not get an order right. In addition, the quality and quantity of the food was different from day to day. On some days we would get half of the salad we had the previous day, one day we’d get full cup of coffee, the next day half a cup of coffee. One evening the hotel ran out of dinner for some guests and one morning they ran out of yogurt. 
The rooms are dirty, the bedding is old, the pillows are yellow and decomposed, the bath smells of damp. The rooms and balconies are full of cobwebs, spiders and there’s a pile of dust under the bed. On the 5th day we asked for our rooms to be cleaned, the cleaners only replaced the towels. 
One of the pool stairs is wobbly, waiting for the lucky guest to fully detach it. There are not enough sun beds around the pool. People line up and once the pool is open they run to reserve a bed. 
Don’t expect any pleasantries from reception but a pinch of arrogance. 
The highlight is the toilet seat in room 305 which is put on a pedestal! 
Towards the end of our stay we could hear more and more guests complaining or giving remarks and just started laughing about the whole situation just not to ruin our holiday.
Other than that, the hotel is on a good location with an easy access to the lake. The pool is convenient and has beautiful flowers around it. With a proper management and some tlc from the employees the hotel has a potential.

Disappointing

Hotel is near the Ohrid lake. Rooms were spacious. Wifi  connectivity was very poor and it  was working near the reception area only. Air conditioner in the room was also very poor.  Breakfast in the morning was ok levels. 


Lake side hotel

I stayed at Hotel Sileks for 1 week with my husband and parents-in-law. The food was just okay and there weren't much variety to choose from. They could also perhaps do a better organisation of the buffet operation particularly when it comes to controlling the flow of people so it doesn't look chaotic. But overall, we really had a great time and enjoyed the hotel's huge swimming pool as well as it's amazing location. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Naum Kuronoski from Front Office Department and Dragan from Restaurant Department were excellent. 

Pleasant experience overall...

Located near the lake. Big swimming pool with nice landscape.
Room was just okay - old fashioned with dated furnishings and not very welcoming.
Wi-fi was on and off especially in the room.
Breakfast - limited.

Just Okay

Not a top class hotel (but the do not advertise to be so). No reserve in saying they certainly are meeting the expectations they reflect om their website.
Rooms a little bit outdated, but certainly not outlived. This is well compensated by their kitchen,  activities and really friendly and helpfull staff (no exceptions).
