We have been in the hotel several in the lasy years (about once per year) and this time there is a noticeable lower overall quality at the hotel. From the room to the restaurant to the reception and facilities.
Rooms are still the same and in a desperate need for some refreshing. Some frames with tabletop designs are not enough. The restaurant staff is trying, but are newer people and less professional than before. The breakfast buffet is with less options and there were several items in the menu that were not available.
Finally, the reception said the jacuzzi in the spa was not working, then they will talk with the manager and said it will work the next day. And after the the night past we got info that it is not working again. Seemed like they didn't bother to tuen it on since there were not many guests.
Overall a disappointment compared to the memory of what it was.
Will not visit in the future. 

Noticeable drop in quality

The service at the restaurant was very bad, we waited for hours for very small portions. No explanation from the staff when ordering (a very small salad for 6 people!), they serve us hot drinks in the middle of August and every time we had to get up from the table to go get the servers and reset them (because the food just didn't arrive).

Big disappointment

The whole premises are with stones floor and stairs - totally not functional for baby carriage. The breakfast was poor and simple - nothing special, as expected for a 4* hotel.
The only good thing were the hotel staff - very kind and helpful.

NOT recommended for children (babies) or people with dissabilities

Well, this is the second time I have been to this Hotel. The first time was too short to provide feedback but now, I had the full experience and can provide some review. 
First, I am guessing the hotel has been built in the 1990s, so that is why the equipment is somewhat outdated and not so modern. The equipment of the rooms is still acceptable, but I must say, I am not very fond of “warm white” lightning. The entire concept of the hotel reminds me of an orthodox monastery (which I am guessing was the idea of the owner), which is nice and attractive. The complex is full of narrow streets, halls, and interconnections between various parts of the hotel. I liked this idea, and the actual building really reminds of a monastery!
I am going with the interior! The bathroom in my room was a little bit small and the shower buttery did not work. Everything in the bathroom was clean, yet you can sense that is too old and in desperate need of renovation. The same goes for the room equipment. The TV is just too funny to be mentioned. If they choose to provide a TV they should make sure is at least this centuries`. Otherwise, I would have lived without a TV as well. There is a desperate need of fixing the electrical sockets because they are not particularly safe since they are falling out from the walls if you would like to get your cable out. The illumination of the rooms and the entire hotel is not sufficient and needs improvements. The restaurant, too, is in desperate need of renovation. It is too dark, although specious and personally it did not leave a nice impression to me.
Pricing? The minibar was acceptably supplied, and the prices were not so low. The prices in the restaurant were too high in my opinion. The price of the accommodation also in my opinion is mid-range to luxurious. I am guessing the lack of hotel accommodations in the city is favorable for the managers to keep up with the current pricing. The money for value if I am asked is low! I mean for the same price one can get better full experience in other places and even in better accommodations in the area. 
Food? The food….. well…. Sorry guys, but as a Macedonian, I must say that your food is not good! I have tried several different dishes (breakfast, dinner, and lunch)…. And I simply did not like it. The portions are big for sure, but the food is tasteless to me. I have been in numerous places in Macedonia, and I am sure everyone in my position would agree that there are places with much better food than this one. My personal tip for the cook at the Hotel: If you are serving chorba “чорба” make sure that there is meet inside and that it is spiced enough. Otherwise, the meal is just a pale colored water….
I did not have the chance to use the spa. However, I must point out that it is simply outrageous to ask for additional fee for using the jacuzzi if a person paid the accommodation fee. I mean come on; in what age do we live???  I saw in the reading material provided in the room that they were charging additional 10 EUR for using the jacuzzi. Again, the reading material in the rooms should be attractive, clean, and shiny – not just a pale photocopy with remains from every single guest who visited the hotel before you!
The staff was kind and helpful, yet one can sense that they are barely waiting to leave! There was no sign of the famous Macedonian hospitality, warmness, and openness.

I am coming back only if I have to!

I stayed there for 2 nights with my husband  and we loved it! Delicious food in their restaurant, spacious room, kind staff...  all in all great experience. They have spa and gym but we only used the jacuzzi because we had it included in our stay.

The best short vacation

I was literally enchanted by the beauty of the place, a hotel/restaurant set in the context of an Orthodox monastery, completely renovated. The food is that of the Macedonian tradition but completely revisited in a modern key.

Beautiful structure and excellent food!

We visited the hotel for a chill weekend getaway. We booked a twin room, at check-in we were given a superior which was lovely. 
Rooms are great, spacious, well equipped, bathrooms are clean and new. 
Towels and toiletries are provided. 
I have visited the restaurat numerous times for lunch and dinner before staying here and the food was always perfect. 

Day one was okay, there were like three tables at breakfast and food was plenty.
There were people for some kind of workshop - due to them sleeping in  breakfast was prolonged till 10.45 at least-weird but okay. 
You can rent bikes for 2€ an hour-great and cheap option. Reception didn't know if the road to the lake was in function due to reconstruction and didn't offer to check- so we called and checked. Not okay. 
Day two we were at the restaurant for breakfast at 09am. There was almost nothing from the buffet left, we waited for glasses to be out for 15min. After I finnaly found a personel and asked-glasses were brought out. Yay we can have water. 
But food that was eaten was never brought out. Sweets, salad, cheese - mising. One hour before breakfast time is supposed to end. So disappointing. 
Restaurant was full of loud youngsters and we were not having it. 
We got some eggs and bread and headed out on the terace-mid chewing a waitress came and told us food was not supposed to be eaten there. Couple of people from the workshop was eating breakfast there yesterday!!! Since they were foreigners probably personel didn't want to leave a bad impression and left them. But we are natives and are supposed to follow unwritten rules. When asked doesn't she consider rude to move us mid chewing since there is no clear sign "don't eat there" breakfast leftovers she said: my boss will be here any minute and she will yell at me if she sees someone eating on the terace which is coffee only zone.
NOT EVEN A METER AWAY FROM THE OTHER TABLES. Mid eating we were obligated to move. Ruined our whole day. I'm pissed. 
So please call before booking make sure groups of team buildings are not there or you will have your weekend ruined. 
Spa is upon appointment, and you have one hour a day, steam bath was not working.
If you asked yesterday if I would stay again I would have said next weekend! but after today I dont think so. 

Great if you are a company organising team buildings or workshops. Not recommended if you are a couple regular people. 

Rooms Sanja next to the grocery store. The Manastir was fully booked but they called rooms Sanja. Basic room and equipment. No breakfast but you can take it in the Manastir. Free Internet. Basic English knowledge but more than enough. FRIENDLY.

Review about "Sanja" at 200 meters distance.

Great place, great nature, excelent food. Excelent staf, nice organisation, very peaceful.
Traditional Macedonian building with traditional food and traditional antic exponents.
Recommended to see the Berovo lake Pehchevo waterfalls.

Great place, great nature.

Most amazing food in the whole region. Cannot complain about anything. Great service and quality This restaurant is a must visit. You cant go wrong. Berovo is a small place, but if you are into hiking, lake walks and all natural activities the you must visit. Oh ans also the fresh air!
Didn't visit the hotel so I cannot comment on it.
