Great place to stay: friendly genuine staff, large and comfortable rooms. Great panoramic view of the town and area. Manager was so helpful and friendly showing us the Churches and local coffee and juice bars. Great tours with very knowledgeable guides. Excellent airport shuttle services. An experience for life,  thanks very much!

A wonderful place to stay,  would come again 

The place looks nice, the people are decent but the management is not reliable. 

We MISSED OUR FLIGHT because the car which was supposed to take us to the airport couldn’t arrive on time. They onboarded us on another car with rude driver who end up charging us for the fee which was included on the package we paid for. 

The owner didn’t even bother to check up on us. His phone was unreachable the entire time. 

We had such a terrible experience on our departure day that ruined all the good memories we had. 

Management lacks responsibility

I really enjoyed staying there and wish to go back  again the hotel / room is very clean quite and simple,  the food was very delicious,  staff are very kind they make you feel home they are all as family. I highly recommend this hotel you will not regret it 😊

Love it 

The lodge has great open view currently expanding for more rooms. Nice garden colorful flowers along the way. Lobby reception was helpful friendly efficient check in/out. WiFi available at reception. Hot water nice shower. Spacious room. Restaurant food was good decent price too. There were quite a bit of mosquitos inside the room distracted the sleep

Nice Mountain View from lodge

The rooms and views vary and I think we had one of the larger rooms with a large bathroom. It was clean with comfortable beds. We both slept very well.

The view was out a sliding glass door that was our only entry and we had a nice patio, too, but it was the entry to our room and people walked by to their rooms -so it wasn't very private and we had to pull the curtains while in the room for privacy - thus blocking the view.

The staff was helpful and the complimentary breakfast was nice. I can't quite put my finger on it, but their coffee was especially good.

We were able to get quickly to and from the rock-hewn churches from there by Tuk-Tuk taxi - not really walking distance - but good accessibility. The local guides we spoke with agreed that we were staying at one of the better places in town with reliable staff.

Great Views and Location

We had a great time in our trip to Lalibela. 
The location is perfect although far from the busy town. For us it was a plus! Also the amazing views from the room , cafe and restaurant make it a unique place! 
The personal was more than attentive and friendly. Many thanks to the dedication and kindness from the spectacular employees there specially the kindness of Medi Lovely and Tigst and the dedication from the great chef Mekuanint.
His food ( Ethiopian dishes) are delicious!
Many thanks again for my birthday surprise! I ll never forget it!

Just the best place to stay and eat in Lalibela! Congratulations!!!


Best place to stay, best restaurant and amazing views!

Although the location is too far from the town centre it is pleasant enough. The room was clean and the Wifi was pretty good too.
The views were good.
You would need your own transport unless you are happy to walk up hill about a mile to the town.
The Lodge is very proud the George Bush stayed here after he had retired.

Clean and Comfortable

We stayed here as part of a tour organised by Ethiopian Travel and Tours who used this hotel regularly.  Rooms were rudimentary, beds OK and shower hot.  Breakfast was a mix of Ethiopian and Western but fairly basic.  Home made bread and jam with hot coffee was good.  Lunch was a range of rice and pasta dishes which was also available for Dinner in addition to a set menu.  The set menu option was poor and typical of Ethiopian cooks trying to prepare dishes they're not used to.  Recommendations for the Lodge - have the cooks prepare what they're used to - a selection of Ethiopian dishes for the evening meal.  Pasta was good but add something simple to the menu such as burger of chicken nuggets.  Recommendation from travelers - bring your own wine as their selection is limited (ask your driver to stop at a wine or drinks shop).  While you're buying booze, try the local Ethiopian Araki (Ouzo) which you can take with you, tastes great with coke and wont make you sick!

Trying Hard

Lalibela lodge is an attractive hotel, with great view, large reception area, truly excellent food, good breakfast, cheerful and helpful staff, large rooms with furniture in traditional style- Most warmly recommended

Great hotel with excellent food

In every way it has been a wonderful experience. 
The Lodge is very close to the Churches, the staff is very polite, kind and professional, the food delicious, the rooms very confortable and the owner, Habtamu, a marvelous person. Also he arranged for me everything and he got me a very professional guide for the visit. 
I highly recommend the experience.
