Resorts nearby put off locals and foreigners, to start with, by asking for an entry ticket. Sometimes, around 500 birr. This has never happened at this resort.
For that much here, two can eat to full abundance!\IMpeccable service, quiet, no loudspeakers putting everyone off.
A very good resort at a moderate price.
If you go through the menu you will find the price lists of an average resturant in Addis, and, consider the location.
A prime place, a real bargain.

I visited this resort in the early evening for a glas of red wine and had a steak sandwich when the dark fell. It was such a joy to sit in the garden with tall, old trees and magnificent flowers from around the world, while taking in the beautiful lakeview. I even saw and smelled the amazing fragance from a flower, I’ve only seen in Hawaii. The staff was kind and professionel and I can’t wait to come back and stay for a weekend.

What,s not to like. The combination of ambiance, location, especially by the waterfront, the service,friendly yet professional,  the food, the menu selection, the drinks selection, the prices all add up to a thoroughly enjoyable experience and a welcome break from the cauldron that is Addis Ababa.

I have been in babogaya with my friends for rest and lunch in june we met mr markos he is nice person and he advise for the best food like fish and soup and salad realy mr markos and his staff make us happy too much only price little high i wish they review prices for food .

I spent there one night so what I can say is that personal are really friendly! Breakfast is very delicious and clean. At night we used bar on the lake, prices are good. And what is the most important in Ethiopia, the room and beds are very very clean! Next time I definitely stay there!

We came here after my first hotel choice wasn't good enough for my wife. We got a lake view triple room for $40 per night incl.  breakfast. Staff spoke basic English, arranged bajaj drivers plus a great English speaking guide caled Tilahun. We did a village tour with him which was excellent. 
In our room the TV didn't work, but had hot water every night. We were not particularly happy with the food here, there are better options nearby. But altogether we had a decent stay here. 

I've just returned from a two night weekend stay at the Babogaya Resort - having been in two countries over the past 3+ months with no break.  The weekend, the quiet, the beauty of nature, the birding and running were what I needed.

Many, many things to note as positive - but must first start with the management by Jasmine - outgoing, friendly, helpful and always present.  On a couple of occasions she went out of her way to make my weekend enjoyable; starting with an upgrade to a 3rd floor suite - with fabulous terrace overlooking the lake.  For saturday she arranged for my afternoon self indulgence at a spa (Pyramid Resorts) - which was great quality for value, and Jasmine arranged for a vehicle to take me and bring me back.   The restaurant manager was similarly very kind and attentive, and of note - it seemed like the staff (83) were always fast walking and at times running, and there were some 75 to 100 stairs from the hotel level to the waterfront restaurant and bar.  Room service was timely and courteous, and the food was good.  Of note - as the owners and managers spent many, many years in the Wash DC area, the hotel has the feel of an American Hotel - even the furnishings and the names of the sandwiches and the main meals.  The quality of the beds, linen and pillows were to Hyatt/Hilton levels; The rooms are starting to be a little tired and there are some maintenance issues (bathtub caulking, grout in bathroom floors and walls). 

I slept great - no noise, and I spent the second evening, with room service and a bottle of red on my terrace with my Rock n Roll and a cigar.   I will go back and encourage our organisation to have meetings retreats there - largely due to the quality of service and for me a full two nights and days - including 3 hours at the spa for under 250€ is not bad (there are lower priced establishments around the lake, and a number that are more expensive). Many thanks to Jasmine and to the owner who I met upon leaving and started an ongoing conversation that will merit another weekend. 

They are obviously upgrading and renovating the lake front area, and expanding.

If you are looking for simplicity with style then this is the place to go to. It like you are back in time and connect with nature, green everywhere and a lake that will sooth the soul. Very kind and friendly staff.

The resort should be labelled as a "No go zone". We spent two nights there with a terrible service. But due to the chaos and disturbance at night, we left the hotel before we complete our business meeting.
