Im staying in the hotel because of a long layover. Even though its a very basic hotel i need to compliment the staff, they are absolutly amazing, helpful and so so friendly. I didnt know i would be having a layover and it was a great sign of relief to end up here. Well done guys, keep it up

Wonderful people

I stayed in the hotel during my layover in Addis, the staff were quite hospitable and courteous. Wifi was erratic on my floor but the meal was good and the rooms quite comfortable. It is a good place to stay though the proximity to a bus terminus could make the place noisy in the morning

I spent a night, April 13, 2016, in this hotel in transit through Addis Ababa. The staff were courteous and helpful, although obviously not well trained. The hotel is in a quiet and serene place. 

The room was basic, but clean. The bed not so comfortable, it sank way more than a bit for my liking. The shower was kind of small and the water would get too hot with seemingly no in-between temperature, but it got the job done. The most pleasant surprise was the generally decent internet, though not up to scratch, (I couldn't send photos, for instance), but a far better cry from the other two hotels I have put up in in Addis Ababa.

My biggest complaint would have to be the lack of toilet paper in the room: this is a basic issue in hotel housekeeping, but as I pointed out already, it was clear that for all their kindness and helpful attitude, the staff were not well trained. Frankly, it is not a place that I would deliberately pick for myself when visiting Addis, (I had a long layover on an Ethiopian airlines flight from Johannesburg, and we were booked in by the airline for the night) but well, it served its purpose.

Basic

The Pacific Hotel is a clean, decently appointed hotel. Staff are friendly and helpful, speaking decent English. Rooms are average. There is a 220 plug in for the water heater right in the bathroom, which is a bit troubling. But when you consider there is no shower curtain between the shower and the outlet, it gets more serious. Hopefully the will fix this.

Breakfast is generous, with both Western and traditionally Ethiopian style eats.

Clean, simple accommodation

I am comparing this hotel to western hotels, not other hotels in Addis. I've not experienced them. The internet was very hard to connect to. It worked about 20% of the time. The first room we were given was roach infested. We killed at least a dozen. The maid quickly came and sprayed, but the smell was overpowering and I was not about to spend the night there anyway. The receptionist was very apologetic and gave us a new room immediately. A bellman was sent to help us move. The room we were given had a hair dryer, which the first did not. The downside was that it was at the front of the hotel and the rooms at the front do have a lot of street noise. The room was pretty clean, but there was a used match that stayed on the floor for a few days before being cleaned up. The whole hotel was very old and in need of refurbishment. I would say by my standards, it would be a one star hotel. Our group chose to stay here because many places were booked by an AU convention and prices in town were doubled.
