Loved this little hotel that feels like a haven in such a noisy chaotic city as Addis. The WiFi is not great and seems to only work intermittently but the staff bend over backwards to make everything great during your stay and when I left the technician was coming to fix the WiFi so hopefully that won’t be an issue much longer. The hotel is based on a quiet street and feels airy and all rooms look out on to the garden courtyard. It’s veered to be on the third floor if you want more light and views.....

Clean, friendly and calm

Was a year back Oct 2016, during the state of emergency in Ethiopia, family was relocating from Tanzania ... travelling with lots of luggage and a big Labrador dog!! It's not an exaggeration to mention how difficult it is to find a pet friendly, reasonably priced, clean and excellent amenities for transit stay in Ethiopia... but after some networking with very accommodating owners of Bow Hotel, arrangements were efficiently managed. If travelling with pets, please ensure to bring along the pet travel cage to avoid messing up the clean housekeeping standards! you can take your dog out on leash outside the compound but be aware of too many stray dogs nearby. Food is mostly continental cuisine but would highly recommend the Ethiopian traditional cuisine too... my 5 yr old son loved the sumptuous b'fast especially the Hash Brown .. (which am having to prepare daily for his school lunch box now).

Room: nice and clean. 

Noise: the night was a bit noisy - not sure whether it was because of the Eid holiday. But we've read about how Addis Ababa can be a noisy town to sleep in, especially with dogs barking, so we packed some earplugs and slept through the night.

For my first time in Ethiopia, I was a little bit surprised with the luxury Bow BnB provides. Coming from the airport, it was a quick and easy drive. When we arrived, the porters insisted that we relax after our travel and without hesitation lugged our 500lbs of baggage to the third floor. Check-in was quick and easy.

The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the hotel offers many places to relax: a rooftop dining terrace, a quaint indoor restaurant, balconies with great views outside every bedroom. I could feel the busyness of the city without being consumed by it. 

Step outside the gate of the hotel and the hustle of the city is immediately apparent. On our first day in Addis we were able to walk a few minutes down the street and easily find restaurants to eat at and shops to buy phone cards. With moderate traffic, it is about a 10 minute taxi ride to Meskel Square, about a 25 minute ride to the US Embassy. The taxis that the hotel called for us provided fair prices and prompt service.

The best part of staying at Bow is the staff, who were always friendly and always accommodating. On short notice, one of the owners woke up at 5:00am to make sure we were checked out and on our way. Some of the waitstaff was kind enough to teach us a little Amharic.

Can't wait to come back!

First time in Ethiopia, incredibly comfortable

I just stayed for one night after arriving on an international flight and had to leave early the next morning. The airport pickup was reliable and at night it was only about 15 minute drive.  Relatively basic room, quick breakfast, helpful staff.  Free wifi. They take credit cards (not many small hotels do outside the city).
