very quaint room, small but comfortable. located right by a tram route,  and right outside the old city. very close to ferry docks if you wish to travel to Finland or St Petersburg.  perfect for the average tourist who spends more time or and about than in the hotel room.  would gladly stay again in the future

My husband and I spent four night in Tallinn at the Hestia Hotel Ilmarine at the end of February 2018 with temps being low as -15c.  This did not deter us from having a great time in Tallinn.  The hotel is in a great location, just a 5 minute walk to the Old City and a lot of sites.  The staff, and the hotel cat, are very friendly.  A lovely modern hotel with a great breakfast buffet.
Take a short walk (5 mins from the hotel) down to the docks and to view the abandoned Linnahall sports complex leftover from the Russia 1980 Olympics.  
If you want to try an Estonia Sauna, Kalma Sauna is about a 10/15 minute walk - a lot of fun so book a private sauna with a pool (and a couple of beers with it).  Or you could try the Spa with loads of different temperature and pools, go to the Tallink Hotel & Spa - €12 plus towel.  Visit the KGB Museum at the top of the Viru Hotel, about 15 minutes walk away from Hestia Hotel Illmarine.  Try the lovely cuisine in the old town - heaps of restaurants with good food.  Enjoy!

Everything looked brand new and clean. Delicious breakfasts, friendly staff.
Rooms were cleaned every day, all needed thing were provided (didn't have to bring anything myself).
Great overall experience, planning to come back some day :)

Travelled week before Christmas. Taxi from airport €10. Hotel location brilliant for Old Town. Found room quiet, warm and clean. Loved the underfloor heating in the bathroom. Wifi worked well, TV limited channels but we weren't there to watch TV. Did miss having a kettle in the room. Breakfast buffet style with a goid selection. Did eat in restaurant one evening which was enjoyable if quiet. Also very easy to walk to ferry port to get boat to Helsinki for the day at very reasonable price. Loved Tallinn, Christmas market was a delight. Booked hotel through BA as part if flight/hotel deal, was definitely not disappointed.

New ownership, same great hotel ! good service in front desk, breakfast has improved the coffee-experience now offering also special coffees :-) Room are cozy, clean and good in size. parking now 15€ per day. the whole experience is good in this hotel. value for money !

We stayed in this hotel recently.A really convenient hotel to access the Old Town, just a ten minute walk.Also close to the harbour for a ferry to Finland, for a day out. You can also get a day trip
To Riga, Latvia, when you have exhausted the Old Town.The hotel is warm, clean and gives a good breakfast choice.No kettle in the room.There is a bar and restaurant, although we ate at Mad Murphy's, as it was cheap! The staff are helpful and there is plenty of tourist information.Only 3 floors, but there is a lift.Our room overlooked a park and there is a nearby tramline.Perfectly happy with this hotel for our stay.Lovely hot shower, after s day out in -16 temperatures! Interesting building, which used to be a factory.

Lovely accomodation in main areas of hotel.Standard room very satisfactory.Lunch good value and breakfast more than adequate.Ver convenient indeed for transport and easy walk in to old town which is really lovely.

We stayed in this hotel in January when visiting Tallinn, and we liked most the location, easy parking (15 eur for the night) and the fact that the hotel has been constructed in an old factory building. The somewhat rough setting with tasteful decor in the lobby made up for a very modern and charming atmosphere.
The room itself was rather small and a bit stuffy. The wall-to-wall carpeting and curtains seemed old and have probably been there when smoking was still allowed in the hotel, or someone had been smoking in the room despite the ban. Even the bed sheets smelled a bit stale, even though they felt crisp and clean. 
The service at the reception was a bit shaky because we were confronted with an intern who had to run to fetch someone more experienced for almost everything we asked. However, in the evening the TV in our room was not working and we asked the reception for help. They arrived promptly and since they couldn't turn on the TV either, they quickly exchanged it with another one. That complaint was handled very well.
The location was excellent since we were in a quiet area but still very close to old town (just 5 minutes walking). There was a gym at the hotel, but note that it is very very small and the air was incredibly hot. There was a fan but it didn't help much. If you are into hot yoga, this is the place to do it!
Breakfast was okay and we had a good start for the day. For the price we paid, the experience was quite good.

More than satisfied

Great hotel

Stayed in this hotel in December while visiting the Christmas market. The hotel was nice but I had to change rooms as my windows showed concrete walls instead of a view. Never really got a view of the city which surely was possible. I understand the philosophy  of refurbishing an old factory building and making a hotel out of it. Superb idea, rather than leaving old ruins standing around. The room I changed to was on the ground floor way in the back and overlooked parking. Given the fact that I was charged extra for a single room that was not what I deserved.The dinner that was provided to the group the evening before was good and I also had lunch in a nice place off the Main Square. The hotel is within walking distance to the Old Town - 15 minutes at the most. I think Tallinn must be wonderful during summer months and I surely would return even to this hotel providing I get a room with a view....

New Name for PK Ilmarine Hotel

- Helpfull and friendly staff. 
- Basic room. I missed a water kettle for coffee or tea. A little depressing "view" from the window into a grey cement wall...
- Good cleanliness
