Sleeping Indian Guest House

I’m an avid traveler into Costa Rica as I´m a vacation planner. I constantly visit hotels and guest houses. Of my journey to La Fortuna the best experience I had was at Sleeping Indian, a cozy place with a retro feeling, there is art and an amazingly kind hostess who provided me with all kind of tips which made my visit even more enjoyable as there are tons of activities to do in the área other than visiting the majestic Arenal Volcano. Booking process was so easy, Heidy answered very fast to my first contact email and from there everything went smoothly. I got to meet with the owner (Don Pedro de la Fortuna) as he likes to be called who was very kind and funny since my arrival. The house has common áreas as the kitchen and the living room, there are also two balconies: one facing the main Street and the other facing the backyard/parking lot. The common kitchen is ample with everything you need for cooking, the living room has paintings all made by Heidy the hostess, there are hammocks which I didn´t want to leave; there is a lot of literature you can choose from to read if you want to just hang around. You should consider that the place is right downtown so a Little noise might bother you but it gets compensated with how easy was for me to reach the supermarket or the pharmacy as I got the flu one day before arriving. Rooms are ample and homey, each room has a concept dedicated to a particular artist: Jannis Joplin, Bob Dylan, David Bowie, Freddy Mercury and Billie Holliday, they have a fan and a window that can be opened to get some fresh air; each room has a bathroom with hot wáter. Price is fair and it includes a continental breakfast that you can have at a nearby restaurant. Definitely my favorite place to stay while in La Fortuna (Arenal Volcano Area) and where I will stay when I come back. Soy un ávido viajero ya que trabajo en el sector turismo de Costa Rica y visito constantemente hoteles y casas para huéspedes. De mi viaje a La Fortuna mi mejor experiencia fue en Sleeping Indian, un lugar muy acogedor con un ambiente retro, arte y una anfitriona increíblemente amable quien me dio todo tipo de recomendaciones que me facilitaron mi visita a La Fortuna donde se pueden hacer muchas actividades aparte de visitar el imponente volcán Arenal. El proceso para reservar fue muy fácil, Heidy me contestó rápidamente a mi primer correo y de ahí en adelante todo fue muy práctico. Pude conocer al dueño (Don Pedro de la Fortuna) un estadounidense quien se mostró muy amable y simpático desde mi llegada. La casa cuenta con áreas comunes como la cocina y la sala de estar y dos balcones: uno que da a la calle principal y otro al lado atrás de la propiedad. La cocina es amplia, hay todo lo que se necesita para cocinar, la sala de estar está decorada con cuadros hechos por Heidy, hay hamacas de las que no quería levantarme, hay toda clase de literatura para pasar el rato. Como la casa está en el centro de la ciudad puede volverse un poco ruidoso hasta cierta hora pero se compensa con la facilidad que tuve para ir al supermercado o a la farmacia ya que un día antes de llegar me había enfermado con gripe. Las habitaciones son amplias y acogedoras, tienen un ventilador y una ventana que se abre, hay baño con agua caliente en cada habitación. El precio es adecuado e incluye un desayuno continental que se toma en un restaurante cercano. Definitivamente mi lugar favorito para quedarme en La Fortuna y donde volveré a hospedarme en mi próximo viaje al área.
