This delightful B&B was recommended to us by a friend. We needed somewhere with parking, which many of the hotels don’t have so this was ideal. The owner, Maj, uses only the best quality products and nothing is too much trouble. The breakfast is delicious and fresh milk is put on the tea tray in the room each day. We made full use of the buses & trams with a go card while on the island. We can definitely recommend it.

Autumn break

Just returned home after a wonderful first week in IOM and Ballacowell. I seriously cannot fault any part of our stay in this amazing BB, family run and with amenities that would shame many hotels! Our host, Maj, ( pronounced MY ) welcomed us and made us feel as if we belonged there.. We had the double room with king size bed and an amazing bathroom.. A decent size TV and tea/coffee making facilities and lots of cupboard space... Also use of the main lounge with larger tv ( netflix if needed)and comfy chairs and what a breakfast! We can say we were thoroughly spoiled with no exageration.. We chose Ballacowell from an internet search and reading the reviews and we were not dissapointed in fact even 5 stars doesnt do this BB justice.. Maj, Chris and Ava were always on hand if needed and such wealth of helpful knowledge. Being in the north of the island doesnt hinder travel around as the bus services run past the door in Sulby and are so regular and reliable.. We used only bus and train to see all of the island.
Thank you Maj, Chris and Ava for a relaxing and enjoyable stay.. We will be back

An amazing stay 

Sulby may not be the first place that comes to mind when looking for somewhere to stay in the Isle of Man, but with your own transport, nowhere is really very far from everywhere else!

And Ballacowell is a gem of a B&B. From the hearty cooked-to-order breakfast to the comfortable and clean rooms, everything here is geared to your comfort. In fact, this is one of those places where the service is SO good you almost start to feel guilty for taking advantage of it

Maj, your host (pronounced "My" by the way) goes out of her way to make sure you have nothing to worry about. She opens the public parts of her property to you to treat as your own - with the added service of seemingly endless offers of tea and/or coffee and a regularly replenished biscuit jar

As well as fully en-suite facilities, a jug of milk and biscuits found their way into our room every evening - and Maj  still insists on fully servicing your room every day including fresh towels and regular changes of bed linen

There is a guest lounge that you are free to make use of, as well as a quiet rear garden to relax in if the weather permits. Although it looks like it is situated on a main road, its a road that hardly anyone seems to use overnight so it is beautifully peaceful. Maj also provides off-street parking for all her guests

We THOROUGHLY enjoyed our time at Ballacowell, a true taste of what an excellent B&B should be like

By the way. Ballacowell is about 35 minutes from the airport,  25 minutes from the Sea Terminal in Douglas, 10 minutes from Ramsey, 20 minutes from Peel and 40 minutes from Port Erin. As I said, nothing is really far from anywhere in the Isle of Man

A gem in Sulby

I really enjoyed the two nights I spent at Ballacowell in June as part of an Isle of Man staycation. Maj made me feel very welcome and my double room was well appointed and large. The bathroom was of very high quality with a bath a separate shower cubicle. The breakfast was terrific with high quality produce prepared to order, it was delicious. I’d highly recommend this B&B.

My Dad and and I stayed at the Ballacowell B&B during the TT 2019 and we had a great time!
Maj, the host of the B&B was very nice. She was always very helpful and already the communication to plan the travel was very eazy. 
We had a cozy and clean room and the breakfast was great - I loved the kippers :-)(special fish from the Island)

We would definitely come again!

Great B&B and lovely host!

We spent 2 weeks in Ballacowell cottage, self catering (not visable in this picture). Great location, 5 minutes walk to the Sulby Hotel and equal to Sulby Glen. Plenty of parking. Great layout. Everything you need for Self-catering was provided. Quality decor and furnishings. We do various self catering holidays, Ballacowell Cottage is 5 star in all departments. Needless to say we have rebooked already.

Cleanest property I have ever stayed in.

Another family holiday @ Ballicowell Cottage in Sulby. Maj & Chris have the perfect balance of a beautiful manx cottage and fantastic friendly support.
The cottage is traditional with a modern twist. Digital Tv. Dish washer. WIFI all help the Lindsays use the cottage as a great base for holiday.  The kitchen always family meals to be made easily with all modern appliences. The rooms as well decorated and are in keeping with the lical 'feel'. Beds rooms are cosy and both have ensuite facilities with either bath or walk in shower.
Finally with Ramsey 10 mins away plus Peel 20 its the perfect location for shopping and visits.
The local Post office is 2 minutes away and the Sulby Glen Hotel opposite provides a nice place for a drink and meal.

Lindsay family holiday 2017

We stayed for 5 nights. Our room was large, warm and comfy. Breakfasts were huge and delicious. Maj made us feel very welcome, it felt like home from home.everywhere was spotlessly clean. We enjoyed our breakfast chats with the family and other guests. Also the rate for our stay was very reasonable.

GREAT STAY

At Ballacowell, you are staying in someone's house in a very real way. 

Obviously that's what some want and not others. If that isn't for you, try renting the cottage attached to the B&B - we didn't see it on our visit, but I can't imagine it being anything other than charming.

The proprietors will interleave their lives with your needs, and show flexibility, helping guests out whenever possible. You can arrive a little early and so forth, if it helps with your travel arrangements, and a little extra help, tips, etc are "included" in the rate.

These guys are always good for a nice chat, and will bring you lovely breakfasts with fancy teapots etc. For me personally it was a little bit too much, as I find it hard to be "waited on" like that but it was certainly very much appreciated. The Ballacowell family take their B&B very seriously!!

One can definitely go here to escape, and sit in the garden, and be pampered in the morning with your preferences all taken into account.

The area is incredibly peaceful & nice.

There is also a cottage you can rent, too, which is separate.
