One of the oddest rooms ever dado missing, screws hanging out of wall, holes in the wall, 2 cups in a triple room , tv had no ariel, bedhead sticking to wall, no glasses,  it wasn't dirty as such just weird

Fantastic value for money here. It's not a modern hotel, but it is clean and the hosts are very welcoming. As with most old guest houses in Douglas, lots of stairs, and the décor is somewhat dated - but who really cares?   Rooms are small but perfectly acceptable for the price.  Shower worked great and a good full English breakfast set me up for the day.  Short walk down to the town and promenade.

I found fantastic value for money here, it's not the ritz but my room was cosy and clean. Shower worked great and breakfast set me up for the day. Kind host allowed me a late check out on my last day. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for value for money. 

Great value for money. 

As like many of these guest houses, there are lots of stairs. Room was compact and looked like it hadn't been decorated since 1990. Floor sloped so bad I nearly rolled out of bed on more than one occasion, the only thing that stopped me was the poorly fitted base sheet on the bed which pinged off at every opportunity. Walls are paper thin so you can hear every other room having conversations right through the night. Bathroom was cramped, tiny sink is useless and the shelf above it is strategically placed so you can't even wash your face or even spit out toothpaste without making a mess. Shower was OK but be prepared to dry yourself on a postage stamp. The 'Full' English Breakfast is a rasher of bacon, 1 egg, 1 sausage, 1 hash brown and a spoon of beans. Was OK at best but would not choose to stay again.

Weekend away groundhopping this was my place to rest . Isle of Man is a small island as we all know so this was perfect for me. 

Local bus station 10 mins walk and takes u where u need to go. 

The owners Eric and ruby are lovel the rooms are clean and breakfast bits alright . 

As the time of stay they was having works done on the property but it was to make the place better would of got a five for me but for this it’s only a 4. Maybe next time 5/5. That hill tho 🤫

Weekend away.

After reading great things about Adelphi, we were looking forward to staying here, however we were let down by what we found.

The rooms are poorly maintained, the rubbish from a previous guest was not emptied and the coffee making facilities were dirty.
The guests upstairs could be heard clearly stomping around their room.

The location is fine and the breakfast was okay.

Avoid. No hygiene sticker . Room was freezing. Had to repair the TV aerial cable myself . Empty drinks bottle behind furniture. Mould in the bathroom. Key code for entrance was faulty. I will give you the scaffolding as maintenance has to be done , but as you can see from the photos the front entrance was an absolute disgrace.

Eric and Ruby put themselves out to make this a great holiday. We were travelling as a group of six and our ferry was very late but Eric stayed up until after midnight to help us settle in. The rooms were comfortable. We enjoyed a full English breakfast each morning and were pleased to find that we could eat take away meals in the dining room. We were always greeted with friendly smiling faces. The hotel was within walking distance of the bus station, steam train station and the electric train station although I understand that you can get buses to these places. Perhaps the only downside was that it was quite a steep climb up to the hotel from the sea front.

Comfortable and friendly hotel

Having read the review by "the party of nine" I thought we were going to be in for a terrible stay. Quite the opposite was the truth, The awning over the front door is very scruffy and gives the place a dreadful look on arrival, however the room was clean and reasonable size, the same applies to the en suite shower room with soft clean towels daily. The breakfast was totally adequate including good quality cereal and acceptable orange juice, extra toast and coffee were always offered.
I think people should realise that this is just a reasonably priced seaside boarding house dating from the victorian heyday of Douglas and not a 4 star hotel. Our room was next to the communal bathroom and we experienced no disturbance from it. There was neglible outside noise from people or vehicles at night. Previous guests moaning about hills when close to the seafront is crazy, it is a small island and roads down to the sea are rarely level anywhere.
Very helpful hosts with questionable taste in decor but they could not have been more pleasant and friendly . Would stay there again

Visit for the Classic TT and Manx Grand Prix

Booked a family room for our Stay, on arrival we where on the top floor room 9, Up 6 flights of stairs. Not great at all for the kids. The Heat up there was ridicilous in the room asked for a fan numerous times but told it was not hot and we didn't need one. But the best bit... we had booked this for 4 people only to get 3 beds!! Eric told us there was no spare beds to go in our room so 1 of us then had to sleep on the floor as there was still no room after the beds had been pushed together.

Breakfast... Could not bring myself to eat anything, i just wanted to leave!

Good Points... powerfull shower with Fresh towels.

Will not be returning unfortunatly this hotel really does need an upgrade and a good tidy.
