What a comfy little home base to stay in Hanoi - I returned here twice in the same week! The family that owns the hotel is super welcoming, even at the earliest hours of the morning, and super-accommodating with us leaving our bags and using the lobby washroom to freshen up while waiting to check-in in the afternoon.

The hotel is located on a "pedestrian only" road, which means scooters and bicycles, and maybe the occasional car(!), but is surround with so many great food options and convenience stores that you will never go hungry. The rooms are small but sufficient for a short stay - after all, how much time are you REALLY going to spend in our room? They are clean, bright, and the washrooms are spacious  and super functional, filled with plenty of toiletries for your stay. 

The best thing about Tomodachi, however, is the breakfast! Make sure you get the chicken Pho, it is SO GOOD and a great way to start your day. It is filling and so flavourful, and served with fresh fruit and delicious Vietnamese coffee - you really can't go wrong. There are western option for breakfast too, if you prefer.

My one complaint has nothing to do with the hotel, but its surroundings. Just next door is a noodle stall that stays open until 5 am, and so if you leave your windows open, you will be serenaded by the lovely sound of a metal spatula clanging against a metal wok ALL NIGHT LONG.  Either make sure to pack earplugs, or close the window, and you'll be alright!

Very helpful and friendly personal. They organized perfectly and pricely trips for us to Sa Pa and Ha Long Bay.The rooms were big and clean.

I stayed at Tomodachi House for a total of 6 nights, and stayed in two different private rooms. 

Staff: The staff are incredibly kind and helpful. One staff member named At treated each guest as one of her friends, and made my trip even better. The others would always smile and wave, and helped with anything I needed. 

Rooms: My first room was on the third floor. It was cozy and cute with a window that overlooked an alley with lanterns. You get free water bottles as well as tea and coffee. The room did not have very good air flow though, so it was always a little damp. Also I got locked in the shower because it wasn’t aligned perfectly. The other room I had was on the sixth floor and this was completely different! It was very large, had a balcony with a table, and a huge closet, plus it smelled nicer and was quieter! Both rooms had a remote to control the temperature which was also nice. I highly recommend staying in the sixth floor room if you don’t mind climbing up more stairs!

Food: There was a complimentary hot breakfast every morning, and they offered 4 delicious options: Vietnamese (chicken pho), Tomodachi (tomato and onion omelette), French (pancakes), and American (eggs and toast with jam). I tried 3 and they all tasted fantastic. They each came with coffee or tea, and some fresh fruit. My favourite was the Vietnamese breakfast!

Experience: Overall I would definitely recommend staying here. Many travellers I met mentioned it was the nicest hostel they’ve ever stayed in. It was walking distance from pretty much everything in the Old Quarter. You could also book discounted tours through them and they make really good recommendations. I also really enjoyed the time I got to spend getting to know some of the staff.

Amazing Staff and Experience

We stayed for a total of 3 nights intermittently, in 3 separate rooms. All very clean and very cozy. The location is good not being on a main street and so you can rest from the chaos of the motorcycles. The breakfast is excellent! The staff very friendly.

A great backpacker hostel just close to the train street with a very friendly and top organised team. there are many local restaurants nearby. thanky you At Nguyen and Jennifer for the professional advice regarding all the activities. well done! 

Perfect location/stay

Not much of a social hostel due to the lack of communal areas. Breakfast is a bit awkward if you're not use to sitting on the floor Japanese style. Stairs! Hostel is a bit far from backpacker area. No free water.

We stayed in the mixed dorm room. Clean and comfortable bunk beds with spacious lockers (lock included) able to accommodate up to 36 liter backpacks. Toiletries and towel included. Breakfast was great! We loved the omelets, pancakes and buttery fried rice. Staff is friendly enough and the hostel happily accommodated our super late (2am check-in).

Tomodachi House is a great place to stay and their staff are friendly ,this area are perfect location, easy to find  food and distance to Landmark area,and the accommodation are kindly we arrival early morning without booking , we just want to drop our bag at the hotel ,but they're offer  us breakfast and every thing we ask with fee of charge, thank you for your super kind service :)
