Halong Backpacker Hostel

Very Good.
All staff excelent such as: Phuc, Hong, tung
Can not find any fault , would recommend to every one.The rooms are super clean, and Staff so helpful. 
The bar has excellent Happy hour and can buy snacks.

Although we did not stay here, we were skeptical of booking a tour with our hostel. After some research, we booked a full day tour here to visit Halong Bay. After talking to other people on the boat, we found out we got the best price for the trip. We also booked our bus to Hanoi through this hostel and the price was very reasonable.

Just booked our hostel on the internet . When we arrived they didn't even had a room for us (although we had booked online),apart from that all doorms were in a really bad condition and dirty. We just felt really uncomfortable and the staff  couldn't talk English at all! It is incomprehensible how they got such a good rating on tripadvisor! Really dont go there.... 

Worst hostel in town! Don't go there!

We booked this hostel as it had good tripadvisor reviews and it was honestly the worst place I have ever stayed in my life. The outside of the hostel looks acceptable, however as you walk up to the rooms, you quickly realise you have made a massive mistake. You are also asked to pay upfront, which we were quite wary about so we requested a receipt, which we were given. After researching the hostel once we were in the room, we were very glad we did this as there had been instances of people being scammed, with staff members claiming people had not paid when they had. 

We had a private double room which was unclean, I saw a dead cockroach on the floor. The bed was extremely uncomfortable and to top it off we were provided a stained pillow each which did not have a cover and a single dirty sheet each. The mattress also had no cover on. 

We did not have any running water when we woke up in the morning and had to wash and brush our teeth using our own bottled water. As a result we tried to leave as early as we could (7:00am) without the free breakfast that was offered. When we tried to leave we discovered we were locked in, the shutters were down and there were no staff members around to let us out so we had to wait for the woman who runs the front desk to turn up.  

We also checked other rooms (the doors are just left open or with the keys in) to see if we were just unlucky but unfortunately all of the rooms were the same terrible standard and if not worse than ours. 

I honestly wish I had taken pictures, but I was desperate to get out of there. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Worst place I have ever stayed!

This hostel was beyond bad! Wish I could give no stars. Our dorm room (Room 402) flooded and soaked all of my friend's backpack and rucksack which contained all her clothes, shoes, notebooks and electrical equipment. When we informed the staff they said that this had happened before and they knew it was a problem. We wondered why they hadn't informed us of this - at least so we could have kept our things off the floor but they had no answer. When we asked for the things to be dried (not even washed, just dried) they finally accepted and said to come back the next day after our Ha Long bay trip. When we returned the clothes were not dry and they said we didn't ask them to dry them for us. When we said that was ridiculous - why would we want wet clothes stored, they accepted that they had forgotten. They then said to return that evening before our bus to Sapa. When we did so, we were told the clothes would not be ready until the following day - obviously unacceptable as we were traveling that evening. After a few arguments - translated by another guest - one of the staff went upstairs and returned with only some of the clothes and THEY WERE STILL WET!!!! No apology, no compensation, no nothing. Don't stay here - awful service and quite frankly they shouldn't be open with rooms flooding regularly. Simply put - awful from start to finish.

P.S. dirty rooms, dirty bathrooms, no soap, sink blocked, shower water didn't drain. 

Shocking hostel! Don't stay here!!!

After a 15 hour journey there, initial impressions weren't good after a cold welcome at reception. We had booked an all girls dorm and there were 4 boys in our room when we entered. The beds were solid, extremely uncomfortable and sheets didn't look as though they'd been cleaned. The toilets also very dirty. Overall impression was not good.
