Great Southern Hotel Brisbane

Loved our time at this hotel. We were checked in quickly, even though we arrived slightly early, by friendly staff. We had requested a high floor which is exactly what we got on the 14th. Sadly no view. We booked a non serviced room which worked well for us, asking at reception for anything we needed such as towels, tea and coffee etc. Our bedding was changed on the fourth day and we were informed of this beforehand. The bed was comfortable, the shower worked well with constant hot water and air con was very quiet. The room was quite large compared to other places we've stayed in but did not have much storage space so everything stayed in our suitcases, not a big issue. The hotel is going through refurbishment but this did not have an impact on our stay. Close to everything, a few minutes from the river, shopping on Queens Mall and about 10 minutes walk to the Botanic Gardens. We enjoyed trips on the River Cat visiting various places. We were very nearly stuck in Brisbane due to the cyclone and the staff were excellent telling us to come straight back from the airport if our flight was delayed and they would try and accommodate us so we were thankful for that. Fortunately this was not needed. We would definitely use this hotel again.
