This was such a perfect little stay for an overnight in Milwaukee - and I’d stay longer if I could’ve! Good proximity to downtown activities, and very cozy and comfortable. I will definitely be bookmarking for future trips to the city!

Staff was extremely warm and helpful. She washed my daughter’s security blanket for her.

We always come here when we come to milwaukee! Love the cabin feel to the room. Little older style of hotel. Clean rooms/bathrooms. Comfortable beds.

If you are going to Milwaukee, this place is great. You have parking right in front of the hotel. It is also great if you’re going to the Brewers game because they have a shuttle across the street at one of the restaurants that you can take for free if you eat there. Figure

I absolutely loved my stay here. Such a cute inn with a homey feel. Everything was clean and comfortable. Someone was at the door every morning to see if we needed towels, toilet paper, etc, and lots of essentials were available at the front desk (blow dryers, kleenex, etc). Lynne was the absolute sweetest lady and our check in and check out was great. We had great chats both times. She also made a point to remember our names and use them when she saw us, which just adds that extra touch. Area was great too. The zoo and muesum were close by, and i highly recommend mama mias and habenero for dinner nearby! If I'm ever back in Wisconsin, I will definitely be staying here!

Exceptionally clean, maintained in excellent condition. Microwave, fridge, sink, TV, Desk, table--all amenities needed for my stay.  Immaculate bathroom. Convenient parking, located on a major arterial with easy access to freeways and the city. Great price for all it offers!  I will definitely recommend it to friends and will stay here any time I am in Milwaukee.

Perfect for what it is.  Not fancy; not much for amenities, but immaculate and nice sized room.  only one complaint....COFFEE!  ;)Breakfast room doesn't open until 7 and I didn't see anything to make coffee in the room.  Maybe I missed it?  Maybe open the breakfast room earlier?   Need some way to get coffee before 7am.  Otherwise, very good stay.

Excellent...one small complaint

We chose this property blindly from an Expedia listing and we could not be happier. The location, the parking, and the cleanliness of the room and property all exceeded our expectations. Then the helpfulness of the staff with some questions we had about the AC was unexpected-genuinely interested in helping us understand how the AC works. I had a medical condition that required that I stay hydrated overnight and said we were going to buy some bottles of water from the vending machine and the next thing we know, Lynn (one of the owners we think) was knocking on our door with 4 bottles of water. It was this type of personalized caring that you just don't see anymore. We highly recommended the Forty Winks Inn and we will be staying there again if we ever find ourselves in Milwaukee again. It is a fun throwback to simpler times when personalized service was the norm.

Loved the Frank Lloyd Wright influence on the design. Room was nicely sized and very clean. Could use an update on furnishings, but added to the quaint appeal. (Nothing was worn out...just a little dated). Lots of dining options within 5 minutes and the zoo is an easy walk. Would definitely stay here again!

Forty Winks is a hidden gem. After reading less-than-stellar reviews for other properties, I decided to give this older property a try and were pleasantly surprised. It has a family-run feel. The place is spotless. The water pressure is excellent with good hot water supply. Service is friendly. Excellent value.
