The owners were super friendlyThey have great info on restaurants and activities! Loved the property. If youre not familiar with the area, know that peak traffic time to the ski resort can be dangerous entering and exiting the property.

It felt so cozy and very nice view. The people in service so kind!

We got there and really didn't expect much. But honestly this place was really comfortable. The kitchen has everything dishes, pan, spoon, forks, knives, etc. It did have a Keurig I don't know why I thought it was a regular coffee pot. Beds were comfy and soft. Blankets, sheets, pillows, provided.  Game room was a nice not a lot of games but was still very fun! They had balls for basketball court, volleyball, tether ball. Beautiful view lots of trees and mountains very relaxing. Thank y'all we really enjoyed it here!!

This is an old property. The people in the property are exceptionally good. Very serviceable and very nice. If you looking for upscale accommodations look somewhere else. A great place to sit and enjoy the night. I love our stay here.

Could see alto lake from my cabin. Enjoy seeing the herd of wild mustang

If you like to be away from all the buzz and noice of other areas. If you like to be left alone. This place is a hidden Gem that I wish I wouldn’t have to write this review so I could keep it hidden. But I also want to give proper attention to where it’s due and let other families enjoy this place like we did. The host is very friendly and helpful.(I apologize I forgot her name)

Hidden Gem

I loved the cabin feel of it and having porch excellent location in my opinion to enjoy the mountain. If there was maybe a slight little negative was the insulation by the living room window of by lodge with 0 degree weather u can feel it coming in thru the window on that specific lodge other than that everything was great excellent experience

Best thing about the property was the communication from Shelly, the mananager.   She checked in with us when we arrived late, helped us make all the needed reservations for ski/sled hills. She helped us go on scenic drives, find good food, brought us a wine cork and helped us dispose if the christmas tree!  The cabins were lovely, spacious and warm.  The kitchen is well equipped for a getway. The property itself was a little more cramped than I had hoped and all the cabins are duplexes in a single row (like a little city block) but the game room etc was great!  The location is great for skiing at Apache!  The winter park sledding hill is only minutes away and an awesome experience!  About 8 minutes from a major grocsry store and no more than 20 minutes from anything else in ruidoso.Downsides, we had to ask for extra TP and trash bags and wished those had been more available and there wasnt enough hot water to fill the tub more than a third with lukewarm water.

Overall, we were pretty pleased with High Country Lodge, especially for the price and a late booking on our part. Cabin 25 is a little outdated, but we knew that when we booked it. We were not in our cabin that much, so that didn’t really matter. Hot shower and a bed was all we needed. But I do have to say that the mattresses(all 3) probably should be replaced. They were pretty uncomfortable(and we aren’t too picky about that either). But other than that, totally functional for a family of 5.

We booked this location for the 4th of July holiday for a small family vacation. The cabins were perfectly outfitted for all of our cooking/grilling needs, as well as more than enough towels and bedding for our 4 night stay. Sports equipment was free to use and the grounds were well maintained. This is a no frills location, but was exactly what we were looking for. Relaxing, and pet friendly. We will most definitely be back!
