It's a unique experience as far as contactless facilities go and it's definitely for the better! Everything from booking to check-out was smooth and convenient. The room was more updated than anticipated and the view of Lake Superior is breathtaking. A highly recommended stay.

The Birchy was a nice, updated, and clean place to stay. I loved the contactless check in and check out. I loved the text reminders and emails about our stay. I loved the email that gave ideas of things to do and places to eat in the area. I would stay here again!

Really beautiful view and a great value for the location. We enjoyed the patio a lot. Two notes I would add, if you are hoping to view the northern lights you may want to go off premise as the property is very well lit. Great from a safety perspective, but less so for night sky viewing. There is some degree of road noise on the patio, but that comes with the territory of such a conveniently located roadside stay.

Our experience from checking to checkout was simple. We were kept informed via texts. Our bed was very comfortable and the room was very cozy.

Perfect for our overnite stay. Clean, comfy and dog friendly. Beautiful setting and so close to Marquette. We would stay again for sure!

clean kinda laid out on the lacking, no chairs for table to dine with, my unit some switches where not properly wired correctly, air unit in wall was drafty and no shower shelf for soap or shampoo

It’s a perfect spot and they are very accommodating. We will return on our next visit.

Close enough to the downtown area yet far enough away to be quiet.

Pros, Good location, clean room and bathroom, fancy heated mirror in bathroom. Comfortable bed, but on the soft side. Cons, we had the corner room so the balcony was off the side of the building and not on the lake side. View of lake out window was obstructed by trees. Shower ran out of hot water after 1 shower. When heat turns on there is clicking sound every 5 seconds that comes from wall heater.

Pros and Cons

The property was newly renovated and beautifully finished. The seperate heater in the bathroom was fantastic and the bed felt like a cloud to sleep on. It would be nice to have a couple of cushioned chairs in the room instead of the metal ones and the bed was really tall to try to get up in. Definitely would stay there again.

The Birchy exceeded my expectations. I know motels are being rehabbed and making a comeback, but usually we still prefer to stay in a named hotel. This motel was cleaner and in some ways had more comforts than some of those big hotels. Genuinely my only complaint is that there were only 3 hooks in the bathroom… and none anywhere else in the entire room. No hooks by the door for coats and no rod in the closet to hang clothes (closet was literally empty). Other than that, the place was clean, not to far from the city center, has a great view, nice balconies, good kitchenette, bed was comfy, noise machine, cordless phone charging, mini shampoos, etc. They also offer coolers and bikes. Only suggested improvements (aside from the hooks… this should be a requirement) are to exchange the mini hygiene items for big bottles on the shower wall, a blanket readily available in the closet for sitting out on the balcony, and a floor mat outside the door or just inside for wet shoes.

Really enjoyed my stay here and would stay again! The view of the lake is breathtaking and I took full advantage of the bikes on property. A beautiful and short ride into town. The weather was nice so was a little bummed the pool was already closed. My room was quiet and comfy with delicious local coffee. The only thing missing was a place to hang clothes. All in all it was a lovely spot.

Im not a complainer, and hate to complain, so let's start off with this... Great communication via text, with easy instructions. Easy to find. Cute place, right off of the Hwy and across from Beautiful Lake Superior! Parking right outside your unit. It was easy access to enter into your Unit, via instructions given. We stayed in Unit 44. It was super cute! It has a small refrigerator, small microwave, sink and cubby holes/shelves, table with coffee maker, bench type luggage rack, metal chair, decent sized bathroom. One thing this unit does not have, is a patio or deck, which we were a tad disappointed at, since all the other units seemed to have them. Just a large window with blackout remote blinds, overlooking the Hwy and beautiful Lake Superior! **Please add a deck and sliding glass door to Unit 44!!**Thankfully, The Birchy have picnic tables outside on their grounds for you to be able to sit and relax at. Even with the traffic going by, it was peaceful to sit out there and look at the Big Lake, the moon and stars, plus the sunrise!!Now, I will admit, my husband and I are bed snobs, as we own a Tempur-Pedic. But... let's talk about the bed!  It was NOT comfy! We felt like we were falling into the headboard when we would lay down! We slept, but both woke up with very sore backs! Otherwise, for those minor things, it was a great place, close to town, and we would stay again.

Great! Just a few minor complaints!

No staff on site, but they sent good instructions on how to unlock and lock the door. Didn’t provide instructions on using a remote to close the black out blinds, which took me a long time to figure out. Comfortable bed, lots of plugs, decent counter space,  hot water, ac works pretty well.  Great location for Marquette, super convenient. I’d stay here again.

Staff was very responsive via text. Room was clean with nice modern touches, a utility sink, microwave and mini fridge. Pet friendly and accommodating. Room was quiet with doors and windows closed. Lots of road noise if window or patio are open. Great views of the sunset and across the street from Iron Ore Trail.

Very clean & modern. Pool, bikes & cornhole all at n/c.  No employees at the property.  A code to open the door is sent to you a few days ahead of your stay. Worked great.  No issues.  Several miles south of town on the highway and bike path. Not as noisy as we thought it would be because the walls are well insulated.  Great beds.

Customer service was fantastic! We requested a later checkout time because we were in town for a marathon and we were uncertain when we would finish. They responded immediately and accommodated our request. They had a no contact check in and check out and they communicated all the information to make that smooth experience.
