The New Lantern Motel

Great value ….. close to Bonaventure from parent weekend.  Newly renovated rooms.  Cozy but fine for 2 adults using the room for just sleeping.

I have been a returning customer at the New lantern motel over the last four years.The staff is always friendly and very accommodating.The rooms are really nice inside and very clean.When I stayed here this past  August of 2024 I had car trouble and I could not make the two hour drive home.Jeff the owner went the extra mile and  helped me get my car fixed so I could make the drive home.I know from personal experiences you won't find help like this from your big chain Hotels.

We came into town at the last minute for a funeral.  The room and property were just as clean and new as featured in the photos on the website.  Beds were comfortable. The check-in was smooth and the staff member was helpful and accommodating.

Nice little conveniently located motel.  Very quiet.

We really liked the free breakfast and the cleanliness of the room.  It was super convenient with parking right outside the door.  Will stay there again!

Excellent overall.  Staff always present, very pleasant.  No frills, but none needed.  A clean place to stay a couple of nights, conveniently located for access to Olean and Salamanca.

For a small roadside motel it was very impressive. Completely remodeled room, very very clean. Even the parking lot was clean. Looks like a lot of attention to detail. At first I thought it was a little overpriced but when you see the condition of the room and property, you realize it’s a pretty good deal. I’ve stayed in worse places for far more.

Friendly staff and clean rooms

Thanks, TA reviewers, for leading us to New Lantern. It’s been years since we stayed in a motel (vs hotel) so I was a bit leery, but we just needed a clean place to stay one night for a long road trip. We called for the best price - which is a few dollars less than booking through Expedia and the like, after those businesses add fees and taxes. The woman taking our reservation was friendly and helpful; I believe we paid $90 using a credit card, cash was $85 (One Queen bed). The room was small but adequate, with a small fridge that actually refroze our blue ice, yay! The bathroom felt more spacious - there was a hair dryer, I thought one review said there wasn’t one. If you need conditioner bring that - “conditioning shampoo” is provided. All was very, very clean, the motel looks recently renovated. Cereal and bagels are available for breakfast, along with coffee. I’m a tea drinker, so I made tea in the coffee maker in our room - I think there may have been a few tea bags in the breakfast room but I had my own - and appreciated that there was milk available to add to it. We would definitely stay here again!

We arrived a little late around 7pm and the clerk looked very annoyed with us. We checked into our room which was very nicely remodeled. Very impressed. The walls are very thin so if you are looking to be loud or want it quiet be careful. The only recommendation I have is a coat hook, more pillows and maybe a tray table to eat at. Continental style breakfast was a little shabby too but overall we had a good stay.

Good find

The motel is actually a bit outside of Olean, right off Interstate 86.  It is located down the road from St. Bonaventure University.  Since it's not right in town, the area is extremely quiet.  The motel rooms are quite small--postage stamp size, but everything was very clean.  They offer Direct TV so there are lots of television channels to view.  The thing that struck me most was the taxes in NY state.  While the room is listed as $89/night, there are $30 in taxes bringing the bill up to near $110.

The place is well maintained and clean.  Staff was very friendly and accommodating.  The room was on the smaller size but we adapted and our stay was pleasant.
