Given the mixed reviews we were a bit apprehensive, however we found it very enjoyable.  Bug free with comfortable furniture and beds.  Well equipped kitchen.  If you are expecting a traditional five star hotel you might be disappointed, but for a large two-bedroom condo surrounded by the woods it is exceptional.  We utilized an Interval timeshare exchange. One caution, if steps are a problem be sure to make arrangements with customer service for a unit not requiring stairs to enter.  Everything but master bedroom and hot tub are on the main floor.  One of the units did not properly deal with their garbage and animals spread it over the road and on both sides.  I called security and it was very promptly and thoroughly cleaned up.

Spent a week at Fox Run at the end of September.  Accommodations were spacious and comfortable.  We stayed in a 2 bedroom unit at the very top of the resort overlooking the 5th green of Rumbling Bald golf course.  Unit was clean, well equipped, and WIFI worked great.  Check in was easy, even though it was located a few miles from the resort itself.  Loved the pool, hot tub, sauna, steam room, and exercise room.  We also ate once at the onsite restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed the view of the lake while enjoying dinner.  I wouldn't hesitate to return and stay at Fox Run again.

We received a wonderful 2 bedroom cabin with a fireplace and two decks.  No bugs or critters inside.  It is also very clean.  We like it a lot.

The location is remote and difficult windy driving especially at night.

Great stay at this resort! Updated and refurbished. All the amenities were first rate. Lake side Restaurant outdoor dining has a great view of Lake Lure and the food was delicious too. Staff was friendly and attentive. Take the tour of the lake and get a good history lesson of the area be a friendly Captain.

My daughter and I stayed at this resort during our visit to the area and Asheville, which is about an hour's drive from here.

The check-in location is in a different spot from where the actual condos are; it's about a 10 minute drive (3.4 miles) between the  two. 

We had a 2-bedroom unit and we had plenty of space to spread out!  Having a kitchen was great, because when it's evening and you are not in the mood to drive the twisty roads that abound in this region, it was nice to stay and have dinner in our condo!  Just be sure to stock up on groceries from the Ingles Market, which is about a 20 minute drive from the resort.

The unit was in good condition and clean.

We had a wonderful week!

We enjoyed early spring like weather at the end of Feb/first of Mar. The unit was spacious, well stocked, clean, had an especially comfortable bed, and provided nice privacy. Check in/out was quick and easy with cheerful staff. A minor maintenance issue was responded to within 30 minutes (on a Sunday morning even!) and resolved quickly by a most pleasant and competent maintenance worker. We saw none if the insect issues mentioned in other reviews, but it is true that the lower, master bedroom was cooler than the rest of the unit (possibly could have been an issue had we been there during colder weather). We enjoyed exploring the Lake Lure Town Center and near by towns. The Farm Store in Mill Spring, just a few miles south of Lake Lure, was especially fun. A day at near by Chimney Rock State Park was another highlight. Over all, a most enjoyable vacation.

Condo was spacious and spotlessly clean. We had unit 15 which had amazing views down the mountain of Lake Lure. There were a lot of stairs, 29 just to get to the front door from the parking lot and the bedrooms were on 2 different floors, the living area on yet another floor. It was great for privacy but plenty of stair workouts. The linens and bedding were good and the matresses were comfortable.   They did not supply sufficient toiletries and what was provided was  yuck. They also expect you to replenish your own toilet paper, paper towels and dish soap and to strip beds and bag laundry at end of week. That seemed a bit much.  Overall the experience was good but there is room for improvement from a management perspective.  We did see bears in the parking lot. That was pretty exciting.

We had a two bedroom unit # 302. Nice view and nice but dated furnishings. Good assortment of kitchen supplies. We did not use any amenities of the resort. 
I thought the lower floor bedroom was damp and cold. The shower door in the downstairs bath allowed water to splash out. The washing machine often did not start without unplugging and replugging. The management did not take my complaint seriously. Really??

Stayed in a condo at Rumblingbald Resort (Foxrun) over the Christmas Holidays. We thoroughly enjoyed the condo, resort amenities and curtious staff.  Condo furniture and appliances are very dated but functional. Close to tremendous outdoor activities including Lake Lure and Chimney Rock. The very large Ingles grocery store is approximately six miles from the resort and is stocked with every essential item you may need.  There is a small convenience store about two miles from the resort as well.  We will definitely return during the summer months to take advantage of warmer weather and Lake Lure activities.

We were given this trip to Fox Run Resort.  I read up on some of the reviews before leaving.  I will have to say, I was more than hesitant!  But upon arriving, I found the setting around the golf course very beautiful.  The condos were like 70's decor, but were spotless and had everything you could possibly need.  The only drawback was our mattress.  We tended to roll towards the middle.  It was a terrible mattress and I left a note telling them so.  I never saw any bears like some of the reviews talked about.  The trash cans were all in the ground and bear proof.  We stayed a week.  I would go back.  We really enjoyed the lake and Ashville!

A relaxing week's stay!

A beautiful setting

We booked through a travel club of which we are a member (they get deals on time shares.) We had a single unit on Fox Den Road which had a short horizontal wooden walking path to the unit; it was just my husband and I there. Our view was of woods and we had acorns dropping on the roof when the squirrels were high in the trees trying to eat them.  It was kind of fun to listen to it.  I swept the balcony daily to remove the acorns that fell.  All in all, we enjoyed the stay.  We decided to stay in the room upstairs with the two beds rather than climb up and down the stairs to the master (even though there was a king sized bed downstairs). I liked the shower with the tub upstairs rather then the shower stall downstairs. The towels were fluffy and soft and the water pressure was great; hot water came on quickly. The hairdryer was a small travel size, but it worked fine. There was only one very small bottle of shampoo and no conditioner, so bring your own!!  The only drawbacks: the oven pot holders were square and rubber and hard to use. The cutting board was glass; I was afraid I would break it. There were no spices, so bring your own!!  I would also suggest bringing storage bags for leftovers. There is no aluminum foil or saran wrap; I brought my own baggies.  There was soap for the dishes but the scrub sponge was a cheap variety and hard to use.   There were no cereal bowls, so had to use coffee cups. The appliances worked fine and were clean.  We had issues with the lights flickering for several days, so maintenance had to come fix that. I was unable to close the blinds completely so there was a sliver of light from the outside lights shining onto the bed all night. The furnishings were dated but acceptable.  We found our socks to be quite dirty after walking around, so it seemed the carpet was not real clean.  There is a big grocery store about 4 or 5 miles away, and it had everything we needed. We only saw one dead roach and no bears, although on some days the trash was strewn about. Maintenance was out picking it up immediately. I thought overall it was a nice place to stay.  We got lost a few times trying to find the unit but finally got it down pat after a couple of days. The welcome center was far from the unit and I think they checked in folks renting from more than one resort.  We actually turned up the road that showed it was Rumbling Bald Resort.  I assume several resorts share the area.  We got tickets for the Biltmore through the Wellness Center. Not sure if it was any cheaper than buying on line. They said just go, but I decided to call and make reservations; I'm glad I did....saved us some hassle.  We took their lunch cruse on the lake; that was nice.  The golf course looked very nice, but we did not use it.  The indoor pool looked nice, too, but we never did get to try it.  We did not try any of the restaurants; we preferred places with a view of the lake or river.  All in all, it was an enjoyable stay.

We checked in mid-May ‘19 with family visiting from Nevada.   We found the two-bedroom condo spacious enough for four adults, clean and well appointed, although we all agreed the unit was ‘dated.’
Some of the furniture is older and broken down from use, but still completely functional.   The beds were rated ‘very comfortable’ by all.
The downsides were . . . 
1)  A foul odor emanating from the downstairs cabinet drawers when opened . . . 
2)  No salt nor pepper in the requisite shakers (unlike other time shares all of us have been in).
