We enjoyed a great Sunday Lunch at The Queens Head this Sunday! Roaring log fire, friendly staff the best Sunday Roast, beef with all the trimmings and particularly excellent choice of veg. Good Covid measures in place so we felt very comfortable. Just what we needed on a foggy and cold winters day. Highly recommend. 

Attended this well kept, friendly, enjoyable establishment a couple of weeks back. The staff were king the atmosphere feels traditional with a twist of modern features such. Very enjoyable will visit again

A lovely traditional pub. It felt that London was at least a hundred miles away. The food was very good and substantial. A new lavatory seat would be an advantage, but the old one certainly added to the amusement! Please support traditional pubs. If we lose them it will be a tragedy.

What an amazing little hotel room, it had everything you could want from a little 'b&b' room if that's what you want to call it. We stayed in an annex off the pub upstairs. It was so quiet and you didn't even here the traffic in the morning. We where going to be late from the wedding back so we called the pub/hotel and they said they would stay open and wait for us as long as it was no later than 2300. We arrived at 2300 to be greater by a really friendly host who showed us to our room and the room was outstanding. It had a little fridge with milk and orange juice in for the morning. A little selection of cereal and bread along with a toaster. The room was really clean and presented very well. Here comes the two downfalls, there was two single beds which we wanted a double but we coped and there was no extra pills so I had a little uncomfortable nights sleep but other than that I can't fault the comfort of the beds of the rooms they are amazing and the bath room was really clean. Really well done to all the staff at the Queens Head I would defiantly recommend this to anyone staying a couple of nights here. 

Wonderful 'olde' inn. Parts of the building, we were told, go back 500 years! Lovelly oak beams and real log fire. Good choice of beers and a very good menu. Can recommend the beer-battered fish, chips and mushy peas. Bedrooms are in an adjacent converted barn, and consist of one down stairs room, and one upstairs. We had the upstairs one. Bedroom was great and the bed very comfortable. Bathroom a little small, but there is a limit to what you can do in an old building. Owners were extreemly friendly & helpfull. Breakfast cooked to order and at a time of our choice. Quite a vibrant pub on the Friday evening. Situated in a quiet village so you needed transport to get about. Tring town centre about 3 miles away.

Positives: Many! Friendly greeting by owner, who showed us to the downstairs room, with request that if there was anything further we needed, all we had to do was ask. Tastefully furnished with tea/coffee making facilities & Freeview TV. Good power shower in bathroom, and toiletries provided. We ate there in the evening with some friends who came over, and afraid we gave the lady who took our order some hassle as we couldn't make up our minds as to what to eat! However, we can highly recommend the bread & oils, the latter of which are numerous, and delicious. The menu isn't extensive, but the dishes on it are very tasty. Breakfast the following day was a variety of cereals, followed by hot traditional English with toast & unlimited tea.

Negatives: Not many. If you are taller than about 5' 6", standing in the shower will be a challenge! Small amount of noise from upstairs, owing to old creaky floorboards - but given that the 2 rooms are old stable conversions, this is understandable, and the noise wasn't intrusive enough to be a problem. The cooked breakfast was delicious apart from the sausages, which were greasy and not that pleasant. 

Would we stay again - yes, definitely!

I ordered a chicken meal and I didn't realise that it wasn't cook all the way through until a few days after when I got sick from the chicken I do recommend checking if your meal is cooked before eating because I got ill

Food poising

I want to make it very clear the hosts where a credit.  The pub was lovely and the accommodation was very clean.  But I only got about an hours sleep as the mattress was terrible to lie on with a huge zip down the middle the breakfast was a choice of two cereals,and some biscuits and 1 pint of milk so after two brews there wasn’t much left for the cereal.  Tv. Rey small and particularly broken.  No space for me to get ready ie doing my hair/make up.  Not many plugs,broken radiator and no. Enteral heating in the morning and shower turned stone cold within minutes.  I feel really bad about this review but I have to be honest in the hopes these problems can be rectified.

Ixed feelings

We stayed here a couple of years ago and enjoyed our visit, the room was cosy, the breakfast really nice, and the hosts friendly and attentive.  So we booked again, this time for two nights with no option for breakfast.   No problem we thought, wrong!!!   Things have changed here big time, and something drastic has gone wrong.
We arrived a tad early for the five o’clock check in to find the Pub shuttered and locked – this we thought strange for a home counties country pub that, last time, was vibrant.

Checked in, staff very nice – in fact everyone was really nice, and were shown to our room.  Ground floor right underneath were we stayed the last time.  And so here it comes, the room was simply filthy, and I mean filthy! God knows when it was last cleaned.  Bed linen nice and clean and fresh, the rest of the room disgusting.  Hair everywhere, extractor fans clogged with muck, fridge dirty.

It was in complete contrast to our last stay so, even though the staff that we met were very nice, we are going to mark this down as a definite do not stay here
