Friendly, relaxing atmosphere with fantastic views of hayle estuary. Watching the tide come in and go back out  from our room and seeing the wild birds in the local area was fascinating. The staff were friendly and the meals were excellent. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay even tho the weather wasn’t on our side. We would definitely return.

Really enjoyed our stay at the old Quay Inn. Our room overlooked the estuary,what a wonderful sight.Didnt eat her as we had with our family. Very high standard of hygìene

Ideal base if you want to visit multiple places. Relaxing watching the estuary fill up and the ducks returning.

Comfortable and clean room. Great view. Quiet. Excellent attention to detail, from the bird book and binoculars to cotton balls and dressing gowns.

If you stay in room 6 you get your own veranda and not overlooked. Amazing views. Quiet. And waking up to the view of the estuary. Wow. It’s worth paying extra. We will go again.

Lovely hotel with Lodge rooms away from the bar so really peaceful and quiet.  Amazing views of the Estuary from our room which was super clean and comfortable. Coffee machine, plenty of teabags and fresh milk in the fridge which was a nice touch. Staff were friendly and helpful. 

All the staff were very helpful and friendly. Some remembered us from a previous stay. Food was exceptional and a great range of drinks available.  Weather was amazing too. Stayed in the Kingfisher lodge. Superb views of the estuary and all its wildlife.

Fabulous break at the old quay house, hayle

Lovely spot to stay with beautiful ever changing views over The Hale estuary . Perfect for bird lovers and those who just like the stunning scenery. Listen out for the call of curlews in the morning and evening.. breathtaking! The shalets were spotless had amazing views and brilliant torches like binoculars and a bird book. Nice coffee and biscuits. And comfortable outdoor furniture. The owners are really nice and friendly people and nothing is too much trouble. The food is well cooked and tasty.
 I would definitely recommend these rooms if accessiblity is an issue we went with my disabled mother and it has to be one of the very few step free places to stay in west Cornwall! We will be back .. it’s brilliant.. thank you!


Accessible!  beautiful scenery and an all round great place to stay 

From the warmth and friendliness of the staff, to the interior of the lodge, I loved my stay here.   I am not always easy to please but the lodge was just lovely!  The bathroom was sparkly clean and well fitted with new bath, shower & loo and bathrobe each. The lighting was excellent too. The bed was superb with luxury linens and pillows I wanted to take home!  The fridge with fresh milk & water supplied was a nice touch along with tea, coffee & biscuits replenished daily.  Housekeeping was first class. 
The pub was very welcoming, food superb and keen attention was paid to my severe nut allergy at all times. 
I wholeheartedly recommend this lovely place to stay - they looked after us very well for 8 days.  We will be returning without doubt.  Trevor & Margaret your excellent reputation is well deserved.  

Cosy home from home

Lovely place to stay, right on the estuary, you couldn’t get much closer! Relaxing to see and hear the birds, good idea to provide binoculars in room. Nice bijou bedroom and bathroom, very clean and welcomed the fridge with bottled water and fresh milk too and nice touch to provide robe and slippers too. Plenty of free parking in large pub car park. 

Lovely location

My wife and I have just come back from the old Quay house after staying for the bank holiday weekend. Although we would have liked to stay longer the room was very clean and cosy everything you would need . Trevor&Margaret were very helpful and welcoming .the food in the restaurant was great with very polite staff which all delivered very quick service. Cornwall is a very beautiful part off the country which is even better when you have some where nice to stay.

A short stay in Cornwall

Stayed in rm 7, beautiful view of the estuary with table and chairs on the patio to enjoy the view and have a drink.
The lodge was clean had all facilities needed ironing board hairdryer tv mini fridge milk provided each morning and tea and coffee and biscuits replenished. Bathroom adequate  however floor seemed to be wet most of the time. Lodge itself could do with updating I would of been disappointed with it had it not been for the view. Pricey for what it is.
Meal in the pub was typical pub grub and staff friendly.
A bit out on a limb if no transport or don’t want to walk far but ideal location for us .. walked along coastal path to st Ives 5 miles catch train or bus back walked into Hayle had breakfast at birdies next door lovely
And a lovely meal at the Forge bistro.

Lovely welcome, fantastic view from room 7 and the bird book and binoculars definitely came in handy. Disappointed that the excellent food at dinner could not be tried at breakfast - arrangements were offered to eat next door but we were so full from the night before we didn’t bother. Will definitely revisit.

Ww still have not eaten here but have had quite a few drinks  and recently my partner asked for a pot of tea for one. He was served  on a tray a pot of tea with two tea bags in it, a pot of hot water with the milk. All beautifully laid out. What a nice and welcome change  to get tea in this way. Hardly anyone runs to a pot of hot water and there are various cheapskates around who give one tea bag to a pot for two people. Service here is friendly and helpful. Confortable outside seating overlooking the estuary. Lovely location. We will definitely eat one day

Lovely location with good service

I was in Kingfisher, with its own private patio, for a week. Wonderful to wake up to the view in the above picture, an RSPB reserve, even if the weather was grey (as it was much of the time the week I was there). When the tide is out, there is a sward of green, and waders make the most of it to feed. Bird book and binoculars (though I had my own with me) provided. Lovely room, copious continental breakfast provided (not included in price) the night before, and room in the fridge for a few odds and ends of your own if you don't want to eat out all the time. Walking distance to train and bus services if you want to get around and not use your car/have the hassle of parking.

Particularly good for birdwatchers

Wonderful food every time we come here. The service is good and the menu extensive. Even though we arrived on a Sunday the regular menu was available alongside the carvery.
A lovely sea food menu too which is perfect being so close to the sea.
I love the face that there is a children’s play area outside too. So handy if you have little ones.
