The Original Rosslyn Hotel

We booked a night at The Original Rosslyn Inn after a visit to the chapel, and honestly, we were blown away. You can tell it’s a family-run place with real care behind it – nothing flash or corporate, just proper hospitality and loads of character. The building’s full of history – low beams, creaky floors, cosy corners – and the rooms have these quirky little touches that make you smile. Ours had a local theme and felt really homely (plus the bed was super comfy after a long walk round the Glen). We ate in the lounge bar and had one of the best pub meals we’ve had in ages. Big portions, full of flavour, and not trying too hard – just done right. Then had a few cocktails in The Crypt – it’s like a little hidden treasure, and the drinks had great stories behind them. What really makes the place though is the people. Every single member of staff was lovely – relaxed, chatty, made you feel right at home. Not polished or robotic, just good folk who clearly care about what they do. If you’re heading to Roslin, don’t just come for the chapel – stay the night, grab a pint, have a blether, and enjoy the village properly. We’ll definitely be back.
