What else can l say? Everyone says how wonderful this B&B is. And we would fully agree. Spotless room, home made cake each evening, super breakfast, friendly hosts, private safe parking space., 
We had room 5, on the top floor (no lift but owners will help with heavy cases) which in reality is two bedrooms.
We hope to return, Barnstable is a great base for touring north Devon..

Pro: excellent rooms, welcoming hosts, gorgeous garden, good breakfast, complementary cake, close to train/bus stations. Con: no credit cards, unpleasant town, no decent pub around.

We had a great three night stay at The Old Vicarage, and feel we couldn’t have chosen a better place to stay.   The accommodation was absolutely spotless, the breakfasts were of excellent quality and being welcomed back with home made cake each day was an added bonus!  Only a 5 minute walk into Barnstaple, free parking at The Old Vicarage and a good bus service to many places from the bus station, which is a short walk away,  if you don’t wish to use your car.  We wish we could have stayed for longer, and would not hesitate to recommend The Old Vicarage if you are looking for a place to stay in Barnstaple.

Well what can I say, about this wonderful place it is easily the best bed and breakfast in Devon with high standards which I think! Should be 6 stars not 5. Breakfast 10/10 with the lovely selection to choose from. The decorating / the house / the beautiful garden which is a gold mine of organic fruit and vegetables, can not fault any part of the surrounding. These guys are the sweetest and most kindest people I’ve ever met and I can’t forget there is fresh home made cakes everyday 🤤🤤 yes I said every DAY ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️😍🥰😘🫶🫶🫶

A warm welcome was made after or long journey to Barnstaple - Brian and Sandi are excellent hosts and the accommodation is top-notch. This is no so-so B&B that's seen better days, the Old Vicarage is tastefully decorated, with  much thought put into the interior design. 
The nicest touch that we've ever experienced is a piece of home-made cake each day left in the room ready for when getting back after exploring the area.
Breakfast was spot-on, a range of cereals, compot and of course the full english - efficiently presented on time by the completion of a simple tickbox form left outside the door in the evening. Everything was cooked to perfection and there was no feeling of being rushed to get finished and out...
Our room was simply divine! The bed was very comfortable, with lots of room to relax in - the ensuite bathroom (in room 1 - can't speak for the others) was better than many 4+ star hotels that I've stayed in. A HUGE free-standing bath as well as a large separate shower with no lack of water pressure!
There is plenty of parking on-site.
We're going back next year!

My wife and I returned from a relaxing 3 day break. All the reviews are true. We could find no fault at the Old Vicarage. Wonderful, laid back hosts, Bryan and Sandi and amazing accommodation and breakfast. Tucked away in wonderful grounds but very handy to the town centre. Hospitality over and above with extra home baked cake each day delivered to our room. Thank you Bryan and Sandi for making our stay so memorable

Our second stay at the Old Vicarage in Barnstable with another great experience matching our first stay last year. The standard of service, breakfast and our room were all excellent. It was lovely to catch up with Sandi and Bryan, the proprietors, who take every step to ensure a comfortable stay. We look forward to our next visit to the Old Vicarage. Charles and Ann Webb

Our second visit, and just as nice as last time. Breakfasts are excellent with lots of choices including homemade yogurt and jams. Roomy and nicely furnished bedroom with view over the garden. Large bathroom, separate shower with easy controls for separate rain head. Very comfortable queen bed. Sandi and Bryan make us feel very welcome. Highly recommend and we'll be back. 

Bryan and Sandi were the perfect hosts from our point of view. They were attentive and helpful without being intrusive. The Old Vicarage is spotlessly clean and furnished to a high quality. Bryan was really helpful in lending us maps and making suggestions about the best places to walk and Sandi (seemingly effortlessly) produced seven different varieties of cake for each day of our stay. Our room was quiet and yet we were within very easy walking distance of the centre of Barnstaple and the large range of places to eat. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would certainly return.

Another excellent stay at the Old Vicarage in Barnstable

High quality and attention to detail...

Spent a few days here in a beautiful, comfortable b & b. Very friendly owners who made us feel very at home in their lovely home. The weather wasn't perfect but we should not hesitate to stay here again, perhaps in the spring when we could explore the beautiful garden. A very nice touch was the lovely homemade cake which was left for us when we returned after a day out, Sandi is a good cook!
