I booked this for a nights stay with friends before  I read the reviews and was somewhat concerned that I had made a mistake, Well; no problem; it was wonderful; the food was lovely ,service was perfect, the rooms were very nice with lovely soft  pillows and duvets. My only quibble would be the lighting in the dinning area, it was so dark I couldnt read the menu and some people were using their phone light to read by.
All in  all, a lovely visit.

Ok this has to be said. It seems that most of the negative comments here must be from the back-sides of lovers of dull, identikit, corporate brand establishments with no soul. If thats your thing move on now, this place isn't for you.
This is a place full of character, soul and creativity. Its easy for me to say that everything your eyes, ears, tongue and nose touches has been designed and carefully created by Marco to compliment each other to maximise your experience.
Here’s the thing, if you book on a voucher type deal you will get evening meal, bed, breakfast designed by the maestro in stunning surroundings. If you want cheap tasteless drinks you’ll find them somewhere else. If you dont want to pay £4 for baked beans , dont flippin order them.
This place is easily in my top 3 or even top 1 hotels Ive ever stayed in.
The staff were brilliant, food and drink faultless, surroundings were awesome.
Id happily stay here every night if I could.

Just returned from two fantastic nights at the Rudloe arms . Staff really looked after us super friendly and couldn't have made us feel more welcome food was superb and the icing on the cake was on our way out of the building we met Mr White who spoke to us for a while super friendly guy and being a chef it was a pleasure to met the man who inspired myself as a young commis chef . Highly enjoyed our stay and we shall return in the future

Visited for a two night stay. Dinner bed and breakfast on a Wowcher offer. Myself and my Mum stayed in a superior room which is situated near the main house. We had a ground floor room. The room was beautifully decorated.  The bed pillows and duvet were extremely comfy. Huge Tv and plenty tea coffee hot chocolate and bottled water to fill the kettle. The main house is beautiful too. Such quirky art work in all the lounges. The food was amazing. There is a supplement for some dishes and sides but bearing in mind we got a good deal £10 extra for a fillet steak is nothing in my mind.  There was a supplement for a full English of about £8 but again that’s cheap. We aren’t great drinkers so we didn’t order any alchol.  The only bill we ran up was £8 for triple cooked chips both nights.  The staff were all really friendly and we chatted to all of them   Please ignore the negative reviews.  We couldn’t fault it. If u want cheaper drink there are a couple pubs down the road. I can’t wait to return when the weather is better and we can explore the grounds properly. Really enjoyed it

We did not know exactly what to expect when visiting the Rudloe Arms. We visited for two days and stayed in the Treetop building. In short, it is a fantastic place. The staff were courteous, polite and professional. The rooms were both neat and stylish. The food was really great - (As I guess you might expect given the owner). The art and everything else inside lifts this Manor house to a level that can only be understood once experienced. (Nothing has been simply thrown in - It has all been very carefully thought out).

It is not just your standard hotel – (I have stayed in quite a few). I would highly recommend it to friends and family. We drove a couple of hundred miles to get there and the same back. However, it was well worth it and we will be back.


My wife booked us a lovely room in the main house to celebrate my 60th birthday, to say it was special is an understatement.  Everything about our two night stay was fantastic, an excellent retreat from the daily routine.  The whole ambience that has been created was so relaxing as well as intriguing, wherever you are in the hotel is so relaxing.  The staff went out of their way to meet our every need and everyone was so friendly.

The whole visit exceeded our expectations, well done.

Well, what can I say, wow. Our daughter booked this for our 50th birthdays. Absolutely loved it. Being a massive fan of Mr White I was so excited and was not at all disappointed, I see chef himself as very quirky and he has made his home\hotel show his personality. And we loved it from the start, on entrance up the lovely log walled drive coming up towards the most beautiful building and winter wonderland of gardens, stunning. On entrance to the home\hotel itself you can feel the ambiance of it welcoming you in and to look around. Now some people may be offended by cheeky pictures on the walls and taxidermy around ect , you cannot let that put you off. 
There's so much more to this place than just that. It's interesting artwork mixed with the lighting atmosphere and the different themed rooms. Just amazing. 
Having read reviews myself before coming here I was very worried our daughter had saved and wasted her money. Believe me she hadn't. 
The reception room was warm and welcoming, the young lady at first didn't seem so much so until we started to chat with her, she then had a beautiful smile for us, she was young and her confidence will build with age and time. We all need that chance. A wonderful young man came along to help her with showing people where to go to their rooms. Bless him he was fantastic showing us  around ( didn't want to tell him we already had looked ) he was loving telling us about the place. We could have talked to him for hours he was very knowledgeable and didn't mind the questions we had about the place. (Promotion there please Chef White.) Then we bumped into a young lady very pleasant again, we mentioned the reviews we can't believe half of them really.

Restaurant staff both evening and breakfast were very pleasant and knowledgeable about what they were serving. Yes dining room in the evening was a little dark, again though ambiance, just a couple of subsidiaries, 
The food was lovely. The staff were great. The place is fantastic. Comfortable bed. We had what we called the soup room , nothing to do with weather, like I said themed rooms and personality. Love it. 
I'd love to have seen Chef himself to thank him for passing on his skills to the young generation he employs and teaches, and for his crazy style personality and for such a lovely needed break. 
I didn't so I've said it in my review THANK YOU everyone at the rudloe Wiltshire.

Lovely stay at Marco's yet again. Lovely room with my favourite piece of furniture there mouseman sideboard. Food was perfect and staff couldn't have been more helpful. My 3rd visit and planning my fourth. I love this hotel and will definitely be back. Gutted I didnt Marco but hopefully next time.

Wonderful stay at the Rudloe Arms hotel. My husband and I have stayed before and loved this individual hotel, this time we took friends and it did not disappoint. The staff are welcoming and helpful, the hotel is a home from home you could spend a whole day or two just looking round the rooms with its wonderful art and books in every room. The food was great and the rooms at treetops were comfortable and individual.  Marco was at his hotel while we were there and checked that our stay was ok. Rudloe Arms may not be for everyone. If you want formulaic "ordinary" suggest you go elsewhere. If you want the expected,  a typical branded hotel, then book another property.

HOWEVER, if you want a fabulous experience that ignites all the senses, go to Rudloe. It's quirky, it's different, it's a little bit of escapism mixed with the extraordinary. 

It's Marco Pierre White's home. His furnishings, his art collections, his stunning gardens, his team and of course, his food. 

We were made welcome from the moment we arrived. The 4 lounges provide the most interesting backdrop for a relaxing evening. Just when you think you've seen it all, you eyes divert off to another of Mr White's quirky artefacts. 

The atmosphere is relaxed, not pretentious and yet you still feel special. We spoke with other guests and the Rudloe team. Marco himself mixed with the guests, introduced us to his family and provided some insight into the hotel and his vision. 

Thank you Team Rudloe for looking after us so well. It may not be for everyone, but it was for us.... fabulous.

A Very Special Place

We stayed at the hotel following recieving a voucher gift from our son and daughter in law. I'm so glad I never read the reviews before I went. 
The hotel is very quirky and I can see that it may not be to everyone's taste with the stuffed animals in glass cases. It is just so different the rooms are lovely with such a very comfy bed.  The food is lovely although not Michelin standard that some guests seem to want to expect, but we are not paying Michelin star prices. The staff are warm and friendly around the hotel.
A lovely stay and we would definitely return.

A quirky lovely hotel

Very disappointed,this was a xmas treat given by my family, and nothing went right from arrival to leaving, on arrival we was met by a young lady that had no people skills and appeared to want to be anywhere but in her position she curtley asked us for a credit card before we could check in, at first we explained it was all paid for but she stressed sorry but without a credit card you can,t book in, after awhile my partner found one on her online banking,only then would they offer us the key to our room in a seperate building across the now unlit car park, our room smelt musty and damp, with no wifi signal so no tv signal, the toilet was stained both in the bowl and around the seat,my partner was taken ill on arrival so we never made it to our evening meal,and due to her feeling so unwell did not seek to bother reception about the lack of wifi signal and lack of chance to view the tv,the next morning we managed to get to breakfast where she settled for just a small bowl of porridge and a tea, i had the full english which incurred an extra £7:50 charge????? even thou the gift included bbem...so to conclude...poor lighting through out,rude staff, lack of wifi,tv,plug sockets, limited tea coffee milk sugar, heating was hit and miss, extra charges,stained toilet,poor signage,had i opted to have a small glass of orange juice with my breakfast this would have incurred an extra £5:00 charge..i have stayed at many ,many hotels and guest houses both here and abroad and have never paid extra for juice,or in that fact my breakfast to be fried

Avoid and read reviews

Mixed feelings about our stay.  The place is vey quirky and not to everyone's taste I would imagine.  Lots of lovely artwork...everywhere, some erotic but we were ok with that.  If you're ok with stuffed animals and pickled fish, also skeletal deer head on several walls, that wont be a problem.  Wish we hadn't been upgraded to a deluxe room as it was on the top floor and very cold.  The windows were misted over by condensation spoiling our lovely view over the gardens and  distant Bath.  Only discovered the stuffed rat in a cage on our second day as it was in a very dark place  in between the bedroom and the bathroom.  Having said that, it didn't bother us and the bed was extremely comfortable, as were the pillows.  Only room for 1 lounge chair so we just sat on the bed.  Although the room was very cold most of the time, the friendly staff ensured we had an electric heater, which was did the trick.
The food was amazing, very nicely presented, tasty and plenty of it.  Downsides were: the restaurant had restricted lighting and was hard to read the menu.  I think the intention was to make it ambient, however, it was a tad too dark.  The evening restaurant staff were quite rude, forget small talk, plate plonked on table and off they trotted without a hint of a smile.  If you happened to have to say something to them the response was curt.
Would recommend the hotel if you like something a bit different to the norm.


Be open minded when you stay here.

Sunning building and an incredibly comfortable bed…they’re the only positives. 

Access to the hotel is on the corner of a junction and via a narrow road which doesn’t have room for two cars to pass. Parking is informal so hope that people don’t park like idiots as it’ll reduce the space for cars (the restaurant will attract non residents which makes spaces available more limited).
Once inside there’s no signage so you have to go hunting for reception. The welcome was friendly before having to sign a disclosure form which had some unusual content. 
My room was in a separate building and I had to go back to reception to ask for the WiFi password as this wasn’t provided at check in. Rooms don’t come with an iron or ironing board so you’ll need a travel set if you need to iron a shirt etc. No phones in rooms either so if you need reception you’ll need to head back in person. 
Noise from surrounding rooms bathrooms reverberated through the walls which caused a big disturbance. 
The hotel and car park are locked down “around 11.30pm” but you’ll be given a key should you need it.
Breakfast was distinctly average, nothing to rave about. 

A real shame such a gorgeous building is let down by the negatives.
