Wellwood Lodge holiday house

We stayed here between Christmas & New Year as a large family group. Susan was a fantastic host. She kept me updated right up until we arrived. The house is extremely clean and was well equipped with everything we could have asked for. The large family sitting area was perfect for us, as was the dining room. We especially loved the Christmas tree and other decorations. It really made the stay extra special. The games room went down well too. The bedrooms are all lovely and spacious and the beds were very comfortable. The location was just perfect. Just a short walk into the town centre one way or a short walk up into the hills the other way. Our dog loved it! We really hope to return in the future.

Our family had a wonderful week staying at Wellwood Lodge over Christmas 2022             (8 adults , 4 children under 12 + 1 Black Lab)  The owner, Susan, was brilliantly efficient from the off, the booking system worked smoothly and the web site description and pictures did the job of convincing us that this was the place for us. 
The house was wonderful and on arrival we were greeted with a package of treats              ( Bottles of Wine, Tubs of chocolates) and  the house very nicely decorated for the festivities with baubles, bells  etc. and  an 8ft Christmas tree beautifully lit. The large spacious lounge with plenty of comfortable seating was ideal for the family to relax in and for the children to enjoy all their Christmas gifts  after Santa ,obviously using modern tracking or Google earth, discovered us there.
The kitchen and utility had everything that was needed to provide for a large number of people, large cooking range, extra ovens, large fridge and freezer and a mass of crockery and cutlery.  A large dining room beautifully furnished  off the kitchen hosted some glorious meals. 
The bedrooms, spread over two floors were very comfortable and  the children loved the tucked away cabin beds in one of the bedrooms. The cellar games room was also well used favourite for the kids.
The house has plenty of shower, bath and toilet facilities throughout with loads of hot water and was kept comfortably warm, considering the  time of year, by a dual level control system. The house's situation on the edge of the town gives access to good walks on the hills and its only a short walk to the town centre. 
This is a real gem of a place in a beautiful part of the country at any time of the year. Do your family or group of friends a favour and come and stay.

The house was comfortable, clean, warm and welcoming.
The kitchen is extremely well equipped for self catering.
The bathrooms are well appointed, with excellent showers, and plenty of hot water.
Easy off street parking close to the house which is within easy walking distance of Buxton Town centre.

Wellwood Lodge is an excellent house in which to stay in Buxton. It is very clean, well equiped, decorated and well maintained. It is about a 10 minute walk from Buxton town centre. Being in the Peak District it is on a hill. 
It was a wonderful place to spend our Golden wedding anniversary  with our 3 children & 5 grandchildren. Everyone had space when needed.
Travelling form the south east we arrived very early but Susan allowed us to use the facilities & showed around the house.

Just had a family get-together (Golden Wedding) at this lovely spacious house.  There was plenty of room for all 12 of us, incl children. The large lounge and big dining room  meant we could be together in comfort.  All was as described, and the house was very well furnished and equipped, and all very clean.  The sold -sided bunk beds were a great hit with the grandchildren, as was the games room, though under-used as the weather was OK.  This house was perfect for our requirements.

We booked Wellwood Lodge for a cycling trip with friends. It’s a great house, very spacious with nice decor, a very well equipped kitchen and a large dining room and lounge. It’s well positioned for cycling in the Peak District with good routes on the doorstep. The double garage is great for bike storage. A very nice touch was 2 bottles of wine and chocolate awaiting us on arrival. We would definitely go back.

We hired Wellwood Lodge for our family to celebrate my mother's 90th birthday. We were met on arrival by the owner who showed us everything we needed to know. She had left us wine, biscuits and milk and there was even fresh bread baking which smelt and was delicious. The whole property is very spacious and well equipped. The games room kept everyone entertained. It was only a short walk into Buxton where there are plenty of interesting things to see. Don't miss the Cavendish Arcade, Pavilion Gardens and the Dome (you need to experience the effect of speaking aloud when you stand in the centre!)
We would certainly consider a return trip.

We used the property for a business weekend.  The house was a great size for the no. of guests and fitted our requirements perfectly.  10 minute walk from the city centre, great bars and nice restaurants. Also nice touch of freshly baked bread, milk and wine left by the owner.  Top stuff!

We visited Wellwood Lodge as a party of 13 ladies to enjoy a hen party. 
We were welcomed to this fab house with freshly baked bread which was lovely. 
The house itself is amazing, excellently equipped with all the cutlery, glasses and plates etc we needed.
There is an area at the back of the house if you are lucky enough to get some nice weather, with a couple of tables which was nice. 
The dining room is especially great with a huge square table which we enjoyed a fantastic evening sat round.
All the bedrooms are nice and big and the beds and pillows etc very comfy. 
Susan was great when we booked the house, helped with all our queries and was there to great us on arrival. 
It’s a 10 minute walk to town once you know the short cut, which is definitely worth finding with the help of the map in the kitchen. 
I would highly recommend this house and hope to be back with the family at some point. 

Although our visit coincided with Storm Hannah and kept our party of 14 in the house for most of the time we enjoyed it's space and amenities. The bedrooms and beds were very comfortable and the downstairs rooms were spacious and well furnished. Susan was very attentive and helpful. All in all its 5 stars.

50th birthday celebrations

We had a weekend break at Wellwood Lodge to celebrate my wife's 50th birthday. We comprised of 3 families totalling 13 people with the youngest being 8 years old and the oldest 55. Without a shadow of doubt all of us agreed its been one of the nicest places we've stayed. 
We were welcomed with freshly baked bread and Susan, the owner, popped round to say hello and give us a few tips. The kids loved the games room. The kitchen was wonderfully stocked and the bedrooms very comfortable. We thought the square dinning table was great, encouraging us all to converse. The living room was large but cosy with plenty of seating for all of us. It was warm even though it was a very cold weekend and my son ruefully commented that it was warmer than our own home on our return!
All in all, a wonderful way to celebrate my wife's 50th.
