Costa Mare Suites

We have just returned from a seven night stay at the Costa Mare Suites as a family of four (me, my wife and our two children of 12 and 9 years old) we were pleasantly surprised with this hotel as it being a 3 star rating, the price we paid and after reading some negative reviews. Rooms - we had a one bedroom room with two single sofa beds in the main area. It’s was big enough, clean, cleaned daily, the cleaner was lovely and friendly (we tipped her and she seemed very happy) it had a little fridge but only once was a bottle of water put in there for us. Our room overlooked the main pool area which was nice however the music on the night time went into 11pm so if you want quiet I wouldn’t suggest a room near the main pool / stage area. Our rooms main sliding balcony door lock was broken when we arrived. I reported this and within 2 hours the maintenance man had fixed it. Food - we couldn’t really fault the food, alway plenty of choice and variety. Always a good selection of fruit and salad. We have an autistic son and he never went hungry. At lunchtime there is an outdoor snack bar serving burgers, chicken nuggets, pizza and chips ect but we mainly went into the main restaurant where there are more healthier options available. Loved the live cooking stations. I enjoyed the omelettes at breakfast. Only thing I would have liked is bacon at breakfast as this was only available one morning during our stay. The main restaurant can get busy during evening meal times as we once saw people waiting for tables. We had to ask for a drink instead of the waiters coming over too us. This was due to the hotel being fully booked and understandable. In the main restaurant you can sit indoor and there is also an outdoor seating area which is nice. Ice cream is available from the ice cream station by the main pool during 2pm - 4pm. Drinks - Efes larger on draught. Non branded spirits. Cocktails, wine and soft drinks available. We liked the fact that the hotel has various drink machines where you can get water, orange squash, apple juice ect and also coffee machine around the pool areas where you can help yourself. Entertainment - the entertainment team make this hotel. Absolutely fantastic and get everyone involved. Our kids loved doing dancing around the pool which they do daily, kids games and the kids disco on the evening. Evening entertainment is good, dance shows ect. Pool slides - are great, not massive slides but big enough to entertain our children. They are open two times a day, around 11am - midday and around 2pm till 4pm. Only thing I would note is that our son slipped as running (his fault) over the pool bridge and hit his leg on the corner of the brick wall and badly damaged his leg. More slip mats / staff supervision wouldn’t go a miss around the slides as we were always on tender hooks watching the kids on the slides. Pools - Two pools. Main pool with entertainment, slides and music playing. 1.5m deep. Relax pool where it’s a more relaxed vibe with a separate pool bar and this is deeper at 1.8m. Both have a kids shallow pool. Location - just in the outskirts of Marmaris. Can walk into the centre in around 15-20 minutes. Taxi bell outside the hotel where you can catch a taxi. The hotel puts on a free shuttle bus to the beach twice a day there and one return at 6pm. There is a supermarket next door which we found useful for getting bottles of water for the room and sweets for the children as the shop within the hotel is abit pricey. There is a general shop, clothes shop, tattoo parlour, jewellery shop and hair dressers / barbers and beauty salon within the hotel which is ideal. Staff - overall the staff couldn’t do enough for us and are very friendly. Overall - This is a great family hotel and we throughly enjoyed our stay. If you want 5 star luxury pay 5 star prices. For the price we paid we couldn’t fault it, don’t understand the negative reviews and would return. A holiday is what you make it.
