Pappersbruket

This is a very exciting experience for all senses and it is definitely worth a detour since it is located a bit off the beaten tourist tracks of south western Sweden. Run by a great couple (artist and designer) it is absolutely unique. We visited as tourists but they also run a magnificently restored conference facilty in an old paper mill. The place is a cross-over of a sophisticated B&B and a hotel. The buildings have been beautifully restored, some dates back to the 17th century some of them from the 1950 ties. It is very creative but still 100 % professional. You can pre order dinner, which in our case was superb, the best Bouef Bourginon I ever had, great wines and served in a very personal way. Breakfast is not the big buffet but delicious with home baked bread and marmelades. Rooms are sparesly but tastefully furnished, spotless and quiet. Normally I do not like not having your own bathroom, but because of the heritage building it has not been possible to install bathrooms for each room separately. There are however enough of facilities close to each bedroom so it does not bother you at all. The couple running it creates a great atmoshpere but are also very professional in the way they run the business. And the guided tour we got of the whole place, including the conference center revealed a fantastic story of how the factory buildings had been renovated with the outmost care for recycling of materials, use of top design elements but also attending to practical details - astonishing work by true entrepreneurs.
