Ancient Tree

I stayed at three guesthouses in Sri Lanka on my own and several 4-5 star hotels in Sri Lanka as part of my group tour. This guesthouse was the best out of all guesthouses. It offered a great quality room for the price I paid. It was pristine clean. The bathroom seemed to have brand new tiles, fully functioning sink and toilet without any issues, it had hot water and was sparkling clean. The room had a nice curtain, a shelf to put my belongings on, two comfortable beds with clean sheets and a nightstand with a lamp above. The ceiling fan was super helpful and for me was better than an A/C, as I tend to get colds when constantly changing from extreme hot temps outside to very cold temps inside powered by A/C. I also enjoyed having my own table with two chairs outside on a small section of the second floor patio. I stayed on the second floor above the main house, where the hosts live. There were two more units there on the second floor with a similar set up and one kitchen shared by all 3 units. The kitchen had more basic amenities, and I was told needed more plates and pods, but it did have a stove and a fridge and few plates and utensils. I never used it, because I like to explore local food options, which cost me $8-10/day. The host Pushpa is lovely, very helpful and full of advice with local tips. The hopper stand right at the gate of the guesthouse served great cheese and chocolate hoppers at a very affordable price, which saved me walking for 5-10 mins to the main road in search of a breakfast or a quick afternoon snack. The guesthouse is about 5-8 mins walk from the beach and the main road. There are plenty of stores, fruit/ veggie shops and restaurants and a swimmable beach within walking distance. I definitely recommend this place. I booked it directly with the host and it worked out great.
