Prasanna village inn

We got lucky finding this little gem! We found ourselves without a reservation, arriving in Kandy by bus at night. A tuk tuk driver found us walking along the city and offered to take us to his friend's hostel. His friend was Mr. Prasanna himself. The cost of that tuk tuk ride was 300 rupees direct to the guest house. Even though the guest house was out of our budget, Mr. Prasanna lowered the price to fit our needs, given that we were on the last 2 days of our trip and funds were low. That was really really nice. Mr. Prasanna and his daughter speak the best English. They were very helpful. The hostel itself is nice. Good interiors. They have brochures for their tours that they operate. They also know tuk tuk drivers. A small library is there, along with a cooler of cold water. Although, I feel it would be better for the pocket book and for the environment to have a large water tank and charge like 50 rupees for a water refill in your own bottle. Saves plastic! The WiFi works great in the property (except when it gets cloudy). Thank goodness for the WiFi. The location is also nice...a good view of the city. It was nice to see and hear nature from the room balcony! A tuk tuk ride to the Kandy Muslim Hotel from the hostel cost us 150 rupees one way. The home stay is very close to a few shops where you can get small things. The room we had was on the first floor: -great comfortable and soft mattress -soft pillows -matching blankets and table cloth -room opened up to a beautiful balcony where you could dry your clothes -soap provided -attached bathroom -mini table, chairs, and vanity also in the room The family was really nice! Here are some examples: -They allowed us to shower downstairs where there was hot water -they gave us free hot water to drink at night when we requested -we were allowed to use their kitchen -we were invited to their daughter's birthday party where we got to have a nice traditional meal
