Saman's Guest House

Awesome food, generous portions, very reasonable price, excellent host. We had curry rice which actually consisted of numerous mainly vegetarian  dishes. Saman even showed us various exotic veggies and fruit that she used in the dishes. Highly recommend. 

We went to saman’s place for dinner with a party of four. The location is on the road, lighted with anti-mosquito torches, overall a good atmosphere. The host greeted us very warmly and, as he found out our nationality, he entertained us with a very good Italian. The food was a great surprise: we got some fried rice, some rice with curry sides and a pizza. Everything was really tasty. I absolutely recommend it. At the end of the dinner, the colleague of the host drove us to the hotel in a tuc tuc.

Me and my friend ended up in Saman’s by accident. The guesthouse is only a few minutes by foot away from the golden- and cave temples. The room was comfortable and clean. We were the only guests staying there that night, because of the low season, but we were treated like royalty. I think every single member of the Saman family came by to have a little chat with us. In the evening we were surprised with a lovely honeymoon-like dinner, complete with a ten dish rice table, coconut torches and a fruit dessert (that they went to get us from the neighbours across the street). After saying goodbye, they made sure we got on the right bus to our next destination. A stay at Saman’s is, in my opinion, a great example of Sri Lanka’s warm hospitality.

With clean and spacious rooms , a great service almost a one on one experience , excellent WiFi .. I really can’t say how top rated this place should be but just try it for yourself , we even had a guy a friend of the family  take us to Sigiriya rock without any question of payment , lovely people of which it was a pleasure to spend time with , if your in dambulla and want somewhere to stay hunt this place down you will relish the experience

Customer service is very bad. Don't know how to deal with customers. We had to wait nearly one hour till our food is served. Then we politely asked them to hurry up a bit.After that the owner was full arguing with us about it.they charged Rs.1500/= for 30 string hoppers dhal and sambol.
