Aaryya Anuradhapura

We stayed 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We didn’t get to meet Ama (the owner) as she was overseas at the time. Shiromi (Ama’s house keeper) is a delightful lady and she took very good care of us. She is a fabulous cook (made us delicious curry & rice for dinner, and every morning the very hearty breakfast was something different – hoppers, string hoppers & coconut roti (main part of the breakfast), plus sambal, something sweet (coconut pancake, milk hoppers, sweet hoppers), fresh fruit, fruit juice, yoghurt, tea/coffee). If you fancy something different to curry & rice for dinner one night, try FU Dragon Chinese Food Outlet (take away across the road from the Guesthouse; very tasty food, huge portions and super cheap – it’s very new, only been open 3 months, the chef has worked in China). Our room was very comfortable (exactly as the pictures show – a very accurate representation) and super clean. The Guesthouse is lovely – beautifully furnished and very spacious (loved the big front veranda which looks out onto a lovely garden). Shiromi kindly assisted us with transport when we were leaving. Nothing was too much trouble for her. She works tirelessly, and really goes out of her way to please. She is very friendly and we really enjoyed having a chat with her. We left feeling like we had known her for a long time, and even thought we only spent 3 very enjoyable days in her company, it was very sad saying goodbye to our new friend. Ama communicated with us during our stay, to make sure everything was going ok. We highly recommend staying here, and if we are lucky enough to visit Anuradhapura again one day, we most certainly would stay her again.
