Cal Tomàs 

What a gem of a property! I love authentic and traditional houses set in an authentic location and Cal Thomas ticks all the boxes for me. All the rooms are beautifully designed with great attention to detail. It is more of an artistic creation than just a place to stay! All the rooms have large en-suite bathrooms and one has a large bath-tub with overhead shower so that you can indulge yourself, maybe with some local products or even a glass of wine. There is a well equipped kitchen and a lovely tranquil courtyard to relax with, guess what? a glass of local wine! There is a great restaurant nearby and you can have a wine tasting at the local celler/ bodega. Better still you can just sit in a local bar. Drinking the produce of the vineyards that surround Bot and not pay ridiculous prices like you do in the UK. They really appreciate their wine here and there is no snobbery. Just sit, relax and people watch in a truly authentic place without artifice. You are close to some wonderful places such as the acclaimed via verda greenaway, a stunning cycle route that stretches for miles along a disused train track. You can swim in crystal clear pools at Les Olles , a short drive or cycle away or maybe visit some of the other attractions of Terra Alta, pools for swimming, wine tourism or numerous photogenic medieval villages that are dotted among the mountains and valleys. Nearby are the incredible Benet rocks, a granite plug that glows pink in the sunset and has a natural form of a dogs head! It's a truly charming house in a stunning but not ostentatious location. Real Catalunya. The host is lovely and nothing is too much trouble. Definitely recommended!
