Yettle Hanok Stay

My family and I had a WONDERFUL stay at Yettle Hanok. Jung and his wife were lovely hosts who welcomed us, showed us a map so we could get our bearings and even offered suggested activities for the day so that we would be able to experience all the sights and experiences. We rented the entire home and found it be spacious, comfortable and clean. It was such a unique experience to stay in a traditional hanok-style home. The home is walking distance to the Gyeongju National Museum and a bus stop with buses that will take you right into town. My family loved every minute of our stay and are so grateful for the hospitality and warmth of our hosts!

We enjoyed our stay at the Yettle Hanok. Our host was very friendly and helpful. He communicated with us prior to our visit on how to get there, which was extremely helpful. Upon arrival he provided us with a map and overview of Gyeongju. The hanok is conveniently located across the street from the museum and is easy walking to the village. There is a bus stop close by with buses that can take you to main historical sites around Gyeongju. Our host brought us a nice little breakfast with coffee to our room each morning, and he arranged taxi pick up for us when we departed. I recommend staying at this hanok to experience a traditional Korean home during your stay.

Host was wonderful and gave us a map and layout of the town. We had access to a patio and rooftop. Even though breakfast was not included, he gave us bananas, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, bread and coffee. I highly recommend staying there for a unique hanok experience.

Our stay here was lovely. The owner was kind and incredibly helpful — he gave us a map and directions on the best ways to see all the sights we were interested in.  The rooms were spotless and the beds had heating pads, which were so cozy, as we were traveling in the fall and it was getting cool. All around a great stay — highly recommend for anyone looking for a more authentic experience unlike those you get at a regular hotel.

It is a classic Hanok Style House with 5 bedrooms. 4 of them have connecting bathrooms, whereas the small single person does not. I had to walk out into the courtyard, only about 15 feet away, to use my own bathroom, but it was for my own use and it was clean. It is a beautiful home and the owners, who live nearby are so friendly and welcoming. The bedroom was comfortable with a good temperature. It was clean and exactly as you’d expect a traditional style of bedroom to be. The mattress is on the floor but it has heating and was pretty thick and comfy. They provided a small but good breakfast in the morning and have a small kitchen with refrigerator for guest convenience as well as a separate tea room. It was an enjoyable stay and I would stay again if I’m ever back in Gyeongju!

The overall stay was pleasant - the property is a traditional hanok house that is more than a 100 years old, run by an enthusiastic host. There aren’t convenience stores around the lodge but there are plenty in Gyeongju city so just buy some drinks and snacks to bring back and eat at the lodge if you want.There are house rules that applies to all guests for efficient management of the hanok house.The host generously provides free breakfast (this free breakfast may or may not continue in the future) at 8AM sharp for every guest in the lodge. He knocks fairly loudly on the door - for sensitive sleepers this may be a bit alarming. The hosts also clean the hanok house every day and ventilates the house for maintenance by leaving the doors of all the guest rooms open. I believe they do this so they can clean up any mess some guests may have left behind which could impact the condition of the old hanok. This lodge also has a concrete check out time and I don’t think they offer luggage keeping once you check out - but there’s plenty luggage holding facilities in Gyeongju area near the hwanglidangil.This is a traditional and interesting place to stay - reminiscent to how older korean generations lived in hanok like this. The way of operation is different but if you’re the type of traveller that pop out in the morning to explore the area and return in the evening, you won’t have problems.

Very beautiful and clean Hanok. The location is the top, many sightseeing places are in the walking distance.Host is very friendly and helpful.I would definitely recommend to stay here.

Our stay was wonderful. The property is lovely to stay at and comfortable. We enjoyed talking with the host about the best way to spend our time in gyeongju. He brought us a delicious simple breakfast, which was great because it has been challenging to find places open in the early hours.

We had a lovely stay at Yettle. The hosts are lovely and the property is clean, well maintained and lovely.

We had a pleasant stay at this property.It was tidy and comfortable.The bathroom for our room was outside, which we didn't mind at all but may not be okay for everyone.Pros:- Korean style house, lovely wooden details- Great location, close to lots of attractions and bus stop. Busses are frequent.-comfortable bed.-The owner was friendly and chatty (find more information below). Gave us a map of Gyeongju and arrival and idea on what to do-lovely breakfast provided one of the days- fridge/freezer, kettle, tea, coffee provided-cute tea roomCons:- no restaurants near by, cafe next door open for very limited hours so take some snacks- lack of privacy and lots of rules to follow. Owner overbearing at times. Will do things like readjust where your shoes are, expects room door to be open during the day for air circulation, made us rush out on the day of check out So he can start cleaning (we were out by 8:15)!! I felt like I was intruding in his home but it's was great experience otherwise.

Traditional Hanok Homestay

The Hanok is easily walkable to all the historical area sites to see. Host is so bubbly! He gave a good introduction to the area showing us on the map so we could get the most out of our time here. The rooms are gorgeous. Even though breakfast is not included the host prepared a light breakfast for everyone with coffee at ~8am. Perfect to start the day as nothing opens early.

Excellent stay in a traditional hanok home — very cool experience and you cannot beat this location. Walking distance to all the main sites and the host is extremely helpful and friendly. We were able to meet other guests and hang out in a friendly atmosphere. Early wake up for breakfast but that did not bother us. We really loved the city and stayed 2 nights.

We received warm and welcoming Korean hospitality on our short stay here. 

The hosts provided easy directions to find the Hanok, were waiting for us on the street on arrival and offered a run down of how we should best utilise our limited one night stay and provided us with a map and notes on what buses to use to get to the more outlying attractions (10 + 11) 

The Hanok is very well situated amongst the attractions we wished to see and we walked everywhere in the traditional town. 

Our room with two single beds was comfortable and warm (electric blanket supplied but not needed although it was a very cold night) We had an ensuite shower & toilet. 

Yes it’s a traditional home so the walls are thin, but all guests were respectful and kept talking to a whisper. I think like us, everyone had an early night after a full day of sightseeing. 

There is a kitchen available to use and a lovely traditional tea room. We had a delicious breakfast supplied on the roof deck the next morning before we set off for more sightseeing. 

Jung the host was kind enough to let us leave our bags there and had called a taxi for us later that day to take us to the train station. He is a well travelled man himself and knows what travellers need. 

Well worth your consideration when looking for a Hanok stay in this area.

Warm hospitality in a comfortable Hanok

The hanok is owned by a Korean couple. They’re are super friendly and they speak English. :)

The space is simple and clean. The wife makes all the bedding herself! We stayed in a double bedroom with a detatched washroom but the other three rooms had attached washrooms, FYI. 

Overall, great location and easy to get to by foot or bus from the historical area.
