Following on from 'davehous' we stayed for 2 weeks 6th - 20th Sept. His post could have been written by us......We had a fantastic time. We did use the pool, just once, but it's there for the taking. EVERYTHING you need in things to do, is there on the mountain and a superb bus service that we used continually to get to Funchal on some exciting bus rides!!!. Yes, disappointed about the Free Hotel Bus not being there as it was one of our big plus points.....so we did have to spend a lot on transport. The mention of it online and in the hotel room book needs removing. We found a super little bar next to Monte Square...they served food at night. Also caught a lovely little 2 day festival in the square with live DJ and local singers and music.....we all sat in the arranged toboggans to watch, which had been placed all around the bandstand. All in all, we had a wonderful holiday and the hotel and staff were faultless.....and found us a kettle :D........BLISS! one tip.......take FLAT shoes....and be walking 'fit' on some serious hills......
