We stayed 4 nights at this hotel in a very safe and quiet area of Trujillo.The rooms are simple yet comfortable, and the cleanliness is remarkable.The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Simple but effective

I was there last year it's very nice this hotel everyone is friendly the deuno super rico nos toco a very nice room trujillo es hermozo and it's located in a super quiet area I recommend it.

Very good.

We were accommodated with my team, excellent care and kindness of staff, walking to the city centre, although the spaces are not too spacious, they are enough to be comfortable, and we were all satisfied.

Very good in location and quality/price.

The hotel is reasonably small however it has rooms where you can rest really good interesting details and the disposition of the staff that serves is not near the square but it is good there is no bustle inside the facility.

Sweet little one.

I have stayed at this little hotel in Trujillo a few times now because I have had an excellent experience each time. The price per room is more than reasonable, the rooms are clean and comfortable, the staff are wonderfully helpful, and they serve a very nice fresh breakfast every morning. They have 4 floors and don't have an elevator, but many of the family-owned hotels that I have stayed in while traveling in South America and Europe don't, so it's not a deal breaker for me. I only mention it so you're not surprised. If you're headed to Trujillo, Peru for a few days and like a good value along with great service, I would highly recommend El Escudero Lodge. I know I'll be staying there again!

Excellent small hotel - great staff!

The stay was short on our trip across the north, we needed a quiet place and a little bit of a downtown, the rooms were clean and in terms of room service everything was within the normal range, what could be improved is the facade but everything is fine.

Hotel very recommended

The hotel is central, in a few minutes you can get anywhere. It is a very quiet hotel, which allows you to rest. The service staff is very friendly. If you want something to eat, you are offered the menu of the restaurant next door and you can place your orders without any problem. Very good place.

Good location

My family and I took a trip to Trujillo and we had an amazing time, most of it because of this hotel and their knowledgeable staff. This hotel is the epitome of a family business, the owner (Señora Margarita) is often the receptionist, her son is the bellman, and the cousin is the cab and chauffeur driver. The hotel itself is a bit far from the airport, however, if you call ahead the staff will arrange a vehicle to pick you up (for a small fee). 

The staff is extremely helpful and the owner will go out of her way to make sure that you are comfortable, always introduce yourself to her and compliment the positive comments that you have read on TripAdvisor, she takes big pride of it. 

In terms of the rooms, keep in mind that many hotels in Peru do not have elevators so if you have issues climbing up 4 levels of stairs perhaps your should mention that you desire one of the rooms by the common area, which by the way, may be a little noisy as people tend to gather around here while they wait on their tour guides and breakfast. 

The hotel works with Moche Tours, which is a very good tour company and their prices are very competitive, so it's a definitely go ahead with this touring company as well. 

All around, the hotel itself is basic and unpretentious, but the price and the willingness of the staff to make sure that you have a good time is by far worth the stay.

Great Hotel, Excellent Value

We spent two nights there: Margarita is really very friendly and caring. The whole staff is involved to make the stay pleasant. Full lunch: eggs, butter jam, fresh fruit juice, tea or coffee. The hotel is clean and has a small patio. Wifi plus computer available to customers. Recommendation.

Very warm staff!

We stayed one night in a double room in El Escudero. The receptionist was waiting for us with a taxi when we left the night bus and we were able to get our room as early as 5:30 in the morning without paying an extra which was perfect for a night arrival. Our double room was quite large and comfortable although without any particular charm. The hotel is located 15 minutes walk from downtown Trujillo but for the price, we couldn't get closer and that's not a problem because the neighborhood is obvious.
