Great trek. A toilet along the track would be good. Took about 1 hour to get to the end of the track. Plenty of water along the track for cooling down. Amazing waterfalls along the way. Quite steep towards the end. Some rocky patches along the way 

Polly gave us a great bed and breakfast, and was so helpful in organising a wonderful glaceir experience in the family helicopter, waiting for the good weather, rather than just taking us up when it suited them. We had a comfortable stay and a great insight into the working life of a helicopter firm as well.

This is a lovely B&B set in a large garden with amazing views of the mountains.We were greeted by Poppy on arrival and immediately offered tea and biscuits.  Gus runs the local helicopter service from the property which is very convenient.  Excellent breakfast in the lovely big open dining room.  The room was very comfortable and the place is very quiet, even with other guests there.

We had a spotlessly clean, spacious and comfortable room with excellent amenities.  Our hosts, Peter and Pam, were friendly, helpful and accommodating.

A short stroll to restaurants and bars and Franz Josef Glacier Guides are just across the road.

We would recommend.

It is situate at north of Franz Josef. The room is comfortable clean and cosy, with easy relax atmosphere. 
Poppy is very friendly and helpful, gave us great tips for our trip. Will stay longer next time.

We had a very difficult time finding this place as did another family who was there the same time we were.  We had tried calling for more specific directions but no one was at the property to answer the phone. The recorded message did not mention the name of the lodge, only the name of the owner, so I wasn't even sure I was reaching the right number.   When we got there, we found a note on the door explaining that the hosts were attending to some aspect of their helicopter business and directing us to our room.  Fair enough, but hardly a warm welcome.  The room was very basic and the decoration seemed rather haphazard. There was no common room for guests to use, just the living room that the owners used.  There were no electrical outlets in the bathroom that would have allowed use of  a hair dryer.  The hair dryer was in a box next to the couch but the length of the cord prevented one from being able to use the mirror located above the dresser.  The insulation in the house was very poor and there was considerable noise from showering from adjacent bathrooms. Our impression was that the helicopter business is the main interest of the owners and the "Lodge" is an afterthought and simply a means to supplement the helicopter business.  Lodgings in Franz Josef were higher than in many places, but even so this place was  overpriced for what was offered. It was as expensive or more expensive than lodgings that had much more to offer. It was our only disappointment in lodgings in our three week trip to New Zealand.  The  positives were that the view was very nice and once everyone got through with showers and got settled in for the night it was quiet. The bed was comfortable.  The hosts were pleasant and breakfast was adequate and the high point of the stay because of the opportunity to get to know a fun family staying at the same time as ourselves.
